6Shenzhen Esun Industrial Co., Ltd. has released their ePC, a fireproof and environmentally friendly material for 3D printing.

Established in 2002 in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, Shenzhen Esun Industrial specializes in researching, developing and producing polymer materials such as PLA and Polymorph through their three R&D centers. Back in 2007, eSUN began to research and develop 3D printing materials, and the company has since created a line of PLA, ABS, PVA, HIPS, PA, Polymorph and PC filaments.3

The company says their line of professional formulas and production lines mean eSUN 3D filaments feature absolute roundness, accurate diameters, uniform color and stable melting points.

eSUN says that the constantly increasing demand for products from users has led them to develop a number of special purpose 3D printing supplies such as wooden filament, PETG and bronze filament.

The bronze material also features the metallic look and feel of bronze, and they say that just like PLA, the filament is easy to use and environmentally-friendly, biodegradable and nontoxic. The company says that their bronze material was created for artists and makers looking to produce sculptures with a metallic or antique effect.

Now the company has released what they’ve dubbed ePC filament, and they say this formulation has garnered widespread attention for its characteristics from environmental friendliness to transparency to toughness.

The company says ePC filament is ideal for conventional FDM desktop 3D printing, and perhaps the most noteworthy feature of this latest filament is a high level of fire resistance.

1ePC comes in natural color, is flame retardant to UL94: V-2 levels, prints at temperatures of 235-260° C, and is available in 1.75 and 3.00mm diameters on 0.5 kg rolls. The developers says this latest formulation features high transparency, is nontoxic and environmental-friendly, and has high distortion temperature and high thermostability and an easy to process malleability.

To demonstrate the capabilities of this latest filament, the staff at eSUN have printed a set of models they say they hope will provide makers and engineers with inspiration for the various applications of the material.

eSUN has also recently joined RepRap in creating an open source 3D printing kit for kids in Asia they rolled out at the Chengdu World 3D Printing Technology Expo, held June 3-6. The expo was an industry conference where the public could explore the future of 3D printing, and it was sponsored by the World 3D Printing Technology Industry Alliance and Asian Manufacturing Association.

You can check out the details of ePC filament from eSUN here on their website, and you can also find links to pricing and ordering information.
