Kickstarter: PROGLU3D Adhesive Solves Common 3D Printing Issues, Is Re-Usable & NonToxic

UntitledWhile 3D printing, compared to many other creative hobbies, could be considered pretty streamlined and ‘no muss, no fuss’ there are still a number of tools and materials you need on hand while actively engaged in the process. Some of them you may not have a preference for until you get a little more experience, and requirements for some tools may vary depending on machine–and depending on the project.

If you are new to 3D printing, you probably discovered the need for adhesive very quickly. It is one tool we discuss often in the context of stabilizing prints. Adding to the conversation is a Kickstarter campaign just launched by startup ProCoPrint3D, founded by Christopher Zuk of Belgium. UntitledQuick to point out that the PROGLU3D adhesive product is not just another take on the generic bottle of hairspray so often employed as a home remedy for getting the 3D model to stick to the print bed, the team has designed an adhesive that can be used at least ten times and washes off with water. Sounding a lot better than hairspray in any case, it’s non-toxic, water-based, and solvent-free.

With a €5,000 (about $5,463 USD) goal to be met by August 16th, the ProCoPrint3D team has developed a product that can be used on either a heated or non-heated print bed, and is made for desktop 3D printers using materials derived from PLA filament and flexi-filaments like NinjaFlex or Flexi-PLA. Designed to deal with issues such as peeling, curving, warping, and all-out failure, PROGLU3D ensures good fixation for your 3D models.

Issues in printing and with adhesion have the potential to damage your 3D printer, as well as using caustic or inappropriate solutions–not to mention non-environmentally friendly ones. PROGLU3D is composed of a chemical formula that creates a film on the print bed, but it is gentle enough to eliminate any worry of cracking or stress to the print bed itself.

UntitledOptimum temperature of the heated table is from 30 to 120°C but PROGLU3D can be used easily on a non-heated bed. The results are 3D models with desired flatness on the bottom and lack of distortion of warp. Use of the Glass adhesive allows for a glassy appearance, while the Universal option can be used for most materials, as well as a heated printed bed.

Pledging support during the Kickstarter campaign is a great way to get early-bird pricing on the adhesive–which starts at €30 (around $33 USD) for PROGLU3D-PLA Cold. With support of €100 or more, you receive a sample pack of adhesives with PROGLU3D-PLA Cold, Glass, and Universal. At €150 or more, another variety pack is available, but made to work with ABS, and includes a cleaning solution as well. At €200 or more, a pack of adhesives is provided for multiple materials, along with cleaner.
