Simplify3D Software Version 3.0 is the largest release from the company since their software was introduced in 2013, and it includes more than 40 major new features and support for a total of 25 new printers.
The company says a number of these new features came as the result of requests from existing users, and along with simplified workflows – and a more intuitive interface – Simplify3D expects customers to be pleased.
Their universal software platform for 3D printing offers a set of new tools to improve the quality of the most challenging models.
“Version 3.0 blurs the boundaries between the output of desktop and industrial 3D printers. Our users constantly astound us with what they are able to create, and we’re committed to providing the tools they need to bring their ideas to life. Their work inspires everything we do,” says Clayton Webster, the CEO of Simplify3D.
Among the many upgrades, the Dual Extrusion Wizard simplifies the steps involved in configuring a dual extrusion print, and with just a few clicks, users can create a two-color part. Users can choose from a variety of “ooze shield” shapes depending on the confirmations of a particular model which will surround their part during construction to result in crisp definition between filament colors.
This latest release also includes six infill pattern options such as honeycomb and triangle infills, and the new patterns allow for configuration of the interior of a part according to goals such as high strength requirements or aesthetic results.
While the Simplify3D slicer has always been fast, a state-of-the-art set of algorithms in Version 3.0 have amped up slicing speeds to more than three times faster than the previous version.
“Faster slicing helps with complex models and multi-part jobs, but it also allows for faster iteration,” Webster says. “Combined with our realistic animated Preview Mode, this allows our users to make small settings changes and instantly see how they will affect the final print.”
The software interface also includes a re-configuration which means frequently used tools are more intuitive and simpler to use, and model manipulation is easier via new grouping options which make working with multiple parts much more effective. The Preview Mode also includes the infusion of multiple coloring options which allow users tovisualize a build sequence according to speed, active toolhead or feature types.
There is also an “undo” button in this latest release to save time, and new keyboard shortcuts improve navigation.
Simplify3D 3.0 now provides dozens of other new features to improve print quality, such as Avoid Crossing Outlines to reduce excess oozing, and Non-Stationary Retractions which reduce toolhead-related defects on the outer surface of a print.
Profiles will now remain up-to-date as the desktop software communicates with a new cloud-based storage system which pushes instant updates for any of the hundreds of pre-configured printer profiles available within Simplify3D.
Simplify3D previously supported more than 100 printers, and this latest release adds 25 pre-configured printer profiles. You can find a list of all supported printers on their website.
“We’re fortunate to have passionate users who provided many ideas that have been incorporated into the new release,” said Webster. “Their feedback is invaluable to our development process, and we can’t wait to see what they will accomplish with these exciting new tools.”
The software with all the updates in now available, and it’s also a free upgrade for all existing Simplify3D customers. Below is some additional information pertaining to this release:
