Mcor, ‘The Home of Unfettered Innovation’ apparently must include that title to mean unfettered, explosive growth as well. Mcor announced today at the TCT Show + Personalize in Birmingham, UK, that they are continuing to expand, and with that comes the creation of two new positions in their company, with Eoin Grindley as the company’s Chief Financial Officer, and the promotion of Bryan Ferrand to the position of Vice President of Global Sales and Services. It’s growth with a capital G for this company, as both of these are new positions and are not only a result of growth but are meant to manage and wrangle the expansion going on in the company currently. Mcor is the forerunner in 3D paper printing, and they are completely unique in what they use as their build material: ordinary business-A4/letter paper.

Grindley, to be in charge of expanding Mcor’s financial operations, joins the company with over 20 years of finance and management experience. He served as CFO of Falcon Oil & Gas Ltd, a Toronto Venture Exchange/London AIM listed company, and held senior management positions at Sandvik Mining, GE Energy, Flexicom and Berlitz.

After breaking record sales for Mcor, Ferrand will move up from his position as Director of Sales in EMEA and APAC to lead global sales, service, supplies, spares and applications. Ferrand previously worked for Z Corporation and 3D Systems, and was also a Sales Director for EMCO.

“We are seeing remarkable demand worldwide for our products and the addition of Eoin as CFO and appointment of Bryan as VP of Global Sales and Services will accelerate Mcor’s growth as a dominant 3D printing company,” said Dr. Conor MacCormack, co-founder and CEO of Mcor Technologies. “We are well-positioned to create a global 3D printing company with innovative new products on the horizon.”

Created by brothers Dr. Conor MacCormack and Fintan MacCormack, Mcor is very environmentally minded, employing used paper in their build material, which is bound together with benign water-based adhesive, forming models as ‘hard as wood.’ The Mcor IRIS employs water-based ink to produce more than one million colors—and, upon the end of its lifespan is completely recyclable. Their 3D printers are affordable, full-colour, safe and eco-friendly. It’s no wonder that just last month they were the recipients of the 3D Print Show Green Award.

brothersThe MacCormack brothers state that they really see themselves as a research and design company, forming Mcor in 2004 “in a bid to democratize innovation by creating a set of accessible tools based on Selective Deposition Lamination (SDL) technology that would provide the freedom to innovate in an unlimited way.”

To demonstrate the staggering and considerably enviable growth they have experienced:

  • Sales of Mcor’s low cost, environmentally friendly, paper-based 3D printers climbed 183% from 30 June 2013 to 1 July 2014.
  • They increased their number of employees by 83%, adding professionals with deep 3D printing expertise.
  • Mcor’s sales and distribution channel grew 81%, expanding market coverage and propelling sales across industry sectors and geographies worldwide.

They are on a mission to reduce the concept of 3D printing as complex, and introduce the technology to everyone. The statistics above would indicate that they are going in the right direction! Have you seen any of these 3D printers in action? Share with us in the Mcor forum at 3DPB.com.
