This year’s TCT Show wrapped up yesterday, and it was a wonderful two days that we’re not nearly finished writing about yet. We’ll have much more to share with you next week, but we hope that we’ve made you feel, at least a little bit, like you were on the show floor with us as we chatted with exhibitors and took in the sights at this packed exhibition hall. As we made our way through the labyrinth of booths, we stopped the other day to talk to John Beckett, Managing Director of 3D printer and scanner reseller Europac 3D.
The Cheshire-based Europac has been in the 3D technology business for two decades, offering digital modeling, reverse engineering, 3D scanning and printing equipment and services to industries ranging from automotive to medicine to film production. The company was recently appointed as a UK Channel Partner for HP, meaning that they will be responsible for the sales and servicing of all of HP’s 3D printing equipment across the United Kingdom.
HP has been one of the stars of the 3D printing world in 2016, since the unveiling of their Multi Jet Fusion 3D printing system back in the spring, not to mention their continuous acquisitions of other major companies over the course of the year. As the company prepares to launch the HP Jet Fusion 3D 3200 and the HP Jet Fusion 3D 4200 printers, they’re gathering distribution partners across the world, and Europac is proud to be one of them, Beckett told us as he stood next to his company’s TCT booth, which both neighbored HP’s booth and bore their logo.
“Europac is the first partner in the UK — to be here, to use the HP logo, is a pleasure for us,” he told us. “HP wants a committed partner who will be part of the team, sharing the same ethics, same values.”
HP initially approached Europac about a partnership last year, and just a week ago Europac was formally onboarded in Barcelona. Beckett firmly believes in HP’s 3D printing plans, and added that several companies have already put down deposits on the Multi Jet Fusion system, though he can’t disclose who those companies are at this point.
“(HP) said they could do it — you’d be hard pressed to try to find a reason they couldn’t,” he said. “Customers really believe in the brand…Being their partner means we have the same level as their technicians, we’re at the same level of offerings with service and support. So we take it to market for them here.”
According to Beckett, Europac has already visited HP’s factory in Barcelona several times to observe their 3D printing operations, and recently they began taking customers over, as well. The Multi Jet Fusion printers will be the second line of 3D printers Europac offers, joining 3D Systems machines alongside a comprehensive selection of 3D scanners, scanning accessories and software from several prominent manufacturers. The company counts over 500 UK businesses as their clients – a number that is likely to balloon quickly as they add HP’s printers to their inventory.
