XYZPrinting has become known as one of the more affordable 3D printer brands on the market today. Sure, there are a number of new crowdfunded 3D printers which have offered, usually smaller scale machines, to backers for under $400. With this said, it’s difficult to justify not spending only $100 or so more, for a printer manufactured by an established, experienced company like XYZprinting. Their da Vinci line of 3D printers has received high marks and the brand is backed by Kinpo Group, a $38 billion a year company, which employs over 70,000 individuals worldwide.
Up until this point, a majority of XYZprinting’s sales have come within the Asian markets, primarily due to the fact that the printers were marketed and more easily available within those markets. Today this is all about to change.
XYZprinting has just announced major partnerships with some of the largest online and storefront retailers within the U.S. market. Leading e-commerce and retail websites including Amazon, Micro Center, Newegg.com, and Studica, will now offer both the da Vinci 1.0, and da Vinci 2.0 dual-head (dual color) 3D printers on their websites for U.S. orders.
Additionally, Micro Center will now carry da Vinci 3D printers in 25 retail locations across the United States, making them the first physical U.S. retail partner of XYZprinting.
“Micro Center is excited to let our customers bring their creative concepts to life with the XYZprintings’ approachable and affordable da Vinci 1.0 3D Printer,” said Kevin L. Jones, Micro Center vice president, merchandising. “XYZprinting’s reputation for supplying easy to use, affordable 3D printers is a perfect match with Micro Center’s reputation for providing the most satisfying shopping environment for the latest technology. Customers can purchase XYZprinting’s da Vinci 1.0 3D Printer from their nearest Micro Center and be printing 3D objects later that day.”
XYZprinting offers two main models of their 3D printers to the U.S. markets. The da Vinci 1.0 was launched back in March, and being priced at just $499, it has exceeded the company’s expectations in terms of sales five-fold. The printer, which has a build envelope of 7.8 x 7.8 x 7.8 inches, is fully enclosed, and safe for 3D printing enthusiasts young and old. The da Vinci 2.0 dual-head 3D printer retails at $649, and has the ability to print in two colors at once via a dual extruder system. Both printers will now be much more easily available to those in the U.S. who have been anxious to purchase one without the high tax and shipping costs associated with overseas purchases.
Will this make XYZprinting a formidable competitor to some of the other major U.S. 3D printer brands? Will their low prices drive other major U.S. based manufacturers to reduce their profit margins to compete with XYZprinting on price? Let’s hear your thoughts in the XYZprinting U.S. retail forum thread on 3DPB.com.
