amazon-threeding-logoToday is a big day for both Amazon and those eagerly awaiting the new Amazon Fire Phone. Today is the day that the phone becomes available, and no doubt there are hoards of people who will be placing their orders to get the latest smartphone to hit the market.

The phone will also be launching with the availability of many of your favorite applications that have previously been available in the Google Play and iOS app stores. One such app, that has been being used by 3D printing enthusiasts, is the Threeding app. Threeding is an online marketplace for 3D printable content. Today, the company announced that their popular app will be available on Amazon Fire Phones, upon the launch. It becomes the first 3D printing marketplace with an app in the Amazon Appstore.

“Our 3D printing marketplace Threeding.com is getting more mobile,” Threeding Co-founder Stan Partalev told 3DPrint.com. “We are launching an app for Amazon Fire Phone on the day of its release.”

amazonthreeding2The app, which previously was available for Android phones, and will soon be released on iOS, offers users the opportunity to browse and purchase the vast market of 3D printable designs. It is fully synchronized with the web version, and allows users to easily search all the 3D printable models currently available at Threeding, as well as purchase the designs that they would like to print. While some of the web functionalities are not available on the app, quite yet, we are told that they plan to bring all of the current web capabilities to the app as well.

“We are very excited about the introduction of Amazon Fire Phone and we expect Amazon quickly to gain a large market share in the market of high-end smartphone, currently led by Apple and Samsung,” said Stan Partalev, Co-founder of Threeding.com.  “That’s why we have our app available on the day the phone is released.”

Becoming the first 3D printing marketplace in the Amazon Appstore could go a long way in helping earn Threeding some much desired market share. The battle for the top 3D printable design marketplace has been one that has been going on for quite some time now, without any one particular company pulling away from the pack.

“I am glad that we managed to react quickly, and on the day of [the] Fire Phone release we can offer [the] Threeding App at the Amazon Appstore,” explained Philip Philipov, co-founder of Threeding

Have you tried out the Threeding app yet? What are you thoughts? Discuss in the Threeding Mobile App forum thread on 3DPB.com.
