dubai8Dubai is a modern-day city which has been built up over the past several decades, thanks to the discovery of oil in the region in the late 1960s. Since then, the UAE city has become not only a major tourist attraction, but also a business hub and architectural wonderland. Because of the region’s great establishment over the years, and their continual development from both a business and architectural standpoint, the 2020 World Expo will be held in the magnificent city.

The real estate market in Dubai has been cooling off as of late, but that hasn’t stopped one company from going all out in terms of showing off the city’s architectural marvels at this week’s Cityscape Global exhibition at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Ejadah Management Consultancy recently decided that they would display a large 3 meter x 2 meter replica of the city of Dubai at the event. In order to do so, they contracted a company called Generation 3D to do the work.

“We worked with our client for a couple of months working on concepts of how a model can best represent their assets throughout Dubai whilst remaining aesthetically pleasing. We decided to keep the colors to a minimum and a relatively neutral theme throughout,” Dominic Wright, Business Development Director for Generation 3D, tells 3DPrint.com. “We created a CAD model of Dubai using Google maps as our reference in just under 3 weeks. We then went to print over 7 days. The model is also very portable and can be assembled and taken apart in just 10 minutes as well as fitting easily into two flight cases.”

The huge model of the city was 3D printed in its entirety on a 3D Systems ProJet 860Pro 3D printer, and features a replication of the entire city. After being exhibited at the Cityscape event, Ejadah will take it back to their headquarters in order to display to potential customers.

This project goes a long way in proving the potential that 3D Systems’ line of 3D printers can provide, while also providing for quite the visual aid for a company looking to capitalize on the always intriguing Dubai real estate market. The Citscape Global event will be taking place today (September 8th) through Thursday, September 10, so if you are in the area, it would be in your best interest to stop by and see this massive creation.
