While Amy W might be synonymous with not going to rehab (and the tragic ensuing results thereof), she may soon also become associated with 3D printing as well. Fans dedicated to the troubled chanteuse can now look forward to a 3D printed collectible and amazing accessories that they can download for free and 3D print themselves–or order straight from MyMiniFactory.
Also a native of London who once ran into the iconic singer in the street, designer Evaooo presents Winehouse fans with her articulated doll design. Easy to 3D print, no supports are necessary, and even more fun–you can dress her up in 3D print too.
Acting not only as 3D designer, but fashion designer as well, Evaooo provides the files for a dress you can print 3D print in flexible filament. This not only pulls together the star’s ‘look,’ but gives the 3D print a very finished, consistent style–shown off by the designer all in black, complete with the tattoos on the arms. Keep in mind that if you order the 3D print, it will arrive unpainted so you will be in charge of the arts and crafts end from there.
“I’m interested in creating 3D printed content that’s a little bit different from the regular gadgets and bits and pieces you’ll find elsewhere,” says Evaooo. “Amy Winehouse is a very iconic and recognizable figure for many different people and for many different reasons.”
Providing some background on the singer, Evaooo’s love and admiration for the extremely talented singer is evident. It was a true loss to the world as we lost a great singer on July 23, 2011. While battling personal demons and addiction, she still managed to share an incredible talent on stage and in the studio, despite being quite ill with alcoholism. As most of us are aware, Back to Black won a bevy of Grammys in 2008, and after that the accolades continued to flow in, with simply too many to list here.
Winehouse was an artist who inspired others, and even after her death that’s still true as a film is being released soon and Evaooo took great time and effort to make a 3D printable form ready to coincide directly with the release of it, an Amy Winehouse documentary directed by Asif Kapadia. Available on MyMiniFactory, the 3D printed doll retails for $29.99.
Both the design and accessories are a pretty cool setup, with our favorite part being the detailed boots. Amy comes also with microphone, microphone stand, and acoustic guitar.
“I hope people will download this doll and give it to someone who loves her music. They can take time to decorate it however they want,” says designer Evaooo. “I think the doll is suitable for people of varying ages. Although the story of Amy Winehouse is a tragic one, she was a good person, a great musician, and an inspiration. It’s important to understand the different stories of the world and the different narratives that make a life.”
“I hope future young people will have access and be excited to have this doll in the same way they have her music to enjoy.”
