Dassault Systèmes has made a major impact on the manufacturing world, particularly where 3D printing is involved, with its 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Now that impact is about to expand further with the introduction of the new 3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace, a cloud-based trading platform for digital design, engineering and manufacturing transactions.

The 3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace allows professionals to collaborate and do business with qualified industrial players across a range of services throughout the product development process. Through the Marketplace, Dassault aims to transform the industrial world the way that the world’s largest online consumer marketplace has transformed legacy retail, and mobility providers have transformed the transportation sector. In other words, Dassault has big goals for the platform.

Businesses that want to identify new manufacturing service providers, including 3D printing, can enter specific components within their design environment or manage their ecosystem of selected service providers and in-house resources. These businesses have access, through the platform, to on-demand manufacturing or intelligent part sourcing services, helping them to streamline collaboration and innovation.

The 3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace relies, according to Dassault, on four fundamentals:

  • Knowledge and know-how: Each service follows industry standards to formally capture offers and requests in order to ensure successful business transactions
  • 3D as the Universal Language: Each service leverages 3D as the Universal Language to bridge the gap between the virtual and real world and to improve collaboration efficiency
  • Traceability: Buyer-Seller exchanges are historized and accessible all in one place
  • End-to-End Transaction Management:  The 3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace manages all aspects of the end to end transaction including payments, currencies, billing and more

The Marketplace is a seamless way to get parts made by working with manufacturers encompassing multiple processes, including 3D printing, CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal and more. The platform allows users to identify the best partner for every project and go straight from design to parts in a fast end-to-end workflow. The Marketplace is accessible from SOLIDWORKS and CATIA, and allows easy communication with in-app messaging. Risks and errors are reduced though process-driven specifications, geometry check and repair, and design for manufacturing feedback. The 3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace already features 50 digital manufacturers with more than 500 machines.

That’s the “Make” portion of the marketplace. The second component, “Part Supply,” allows you to source parts for your project by accessing supplier catalogs with tens of millions of qualified components from more than 600 suppliers worldwide. All manufacturers and suppliers on the platform are recognized experts in their domains.

“Today’s Industry Renaissance extends beyond digitalization to the emergence of new players and new categories of solutions, processes and services that prioritize sustainable innovation over productivity,” said Bernard Charlès, Vice Chairman & CEO, Dassault Systèmes. “Based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform that pioneered the category of business experience platform in 2012, the 3DEXPERIENCE Marketplace transforms the supply chain into a value chain: a single, virtual, social enterprise, pioneering a new way to do business, innovate, and create value in industry. Online platforms and marketplaces have already transformed retail, transportation and hospitality services. Get ready—the industrial world is next.”

As the 3DEXPERIENCE offerings continue to expand and Dassault Systèmes works with an ever-larger variety of partners, we can expect to continue hearing more from the busy company – including at next week’s SOLIDWORKS World event in LA, where the company and many of its partners and users will be sharing knowledge and some announcements we’re excited to share. 3D printing will play a big role at this year’s event, and we hope to see you there; remember that 3DPrint.com readers can save on SWW registration with discount code SWW18PRINT3D.
