screen-shot-2017-01-05-at-10-48-43-amFashion has been an arena of augmented reality ever since the first neck ring lengthened the neck of its wearer or the first shape-changing stay was introduced into the first corset. As the term augmented reality has taken on new meanings with advances in technology, fashion has continued to work to take reality and add to it, manipulate it, and recreate it. The latest innovative integration of AR and high style comes in the form of an augmented reality fashion show to be held on January 6 at the BeautyTech Summit in Las Vegas.

The perfect location for going slightly over the top, Las Vegas will be the backdrop for a catwalk in which the models’ looks are changed in dizzyingly quick succession using a makeover app called YouCam Makeup. The app provides virtual cosmetics and was designed so that, using facial mapping technology, people can try on dozens and dozens of makeup products from the comfort of their own homes, no muss, no fuss, no bother.

Alice Chang, the CEO of Perfect Corp., will be a member of the audience at this fabulous event and expressed her unfettered excitement over the integration of this app into runway fashion presentations:

“Perfect Corp. is thrilled to bring real-time makeovers from YouCam Makeup straight to the runway show at CES BeautyTech. Using award-winning AR facial recognition technology, YouCam Makeup adds a whole new level of creativity and interactivity to the traditional fashion show with virtual makeover options that can be tried on instantly from the runway.”

Each virtual model will sport a lightening fast application of four different makeup looks in only eight seconds. If you blink, you’ll miss it, but don’t worry, the app is available for download so you can try it on yourself. In fact, it’s the number one downloaded makeup app available as part of a suite of beauty apps such as YouCam Nails and YouCam Perfect.

And it’s not just fun for you; the applications contain a number of features that can be applied to multiple faces at the same time, allowing for the integration of AR into group shots as well.
