This year, we have been introduced to several 3D printing manufacturers from the Chinese market. As the technology rapidly grows and spreads within the country, the companies responsible for the growth of the industry are beginning to grow and spread themselves, both within China and across the rest of the world. So far, we’ve seen a lot of new FDM technology coming out of companies such as Winbo Smart Tech, HORI 3D printer manufacturer Beijing Huitianwei Technology Co. and others. Recently, the US market got to take a look at what one Chinese company is doing with SLA 3D printing technology.
Shanghai-based UnionTech (Shanghai Union Technology Corp) has been in business since 2000, and is largely responsible for pioneering stereolithography technology in China. The company still dominates the SLA/DLP market within the country, and has recently begun extending their reach into foreign markets. Recently, UnionTech established a US-based branch, Union Tech, which partnered with distributor RP Sales America, Inc. a few weeks ago to introduce the company’s RSPro SLA 3D printing systems to North America.
The launch event was held at the Iowa headquarters of RP Sales America, and attendees were able to get a close look at the industrial RSPro450, RSPro600, and RSPro800 3D printers, as well as several parts created with the technology. In addition to representatives from Union Tech and RP Sales, experts from Materialise and DSM Somos were on hand to present and discuss the benefits of the industrial SLA printer line for a variety of industries.
“I have a high degree of confidence in the UnionTech stereolithography offering from RP Sales America, and I found that other seasoned users at the launch event felt the same,” said Todd Grimm, President of TA Grimm & Associates. “The technology is sound, the machines well-built and the post-sales support will be exceptional. With these machines, companies will have a reliable, value-priced option that welcomes photopolymer from any source.”
Attendees were also able to take a virtual reality tour that allowed them to see inside an investment casting pattern designed with Materialise’s Magics TetraShell module.
In addition to the high quality parts and reliable performance offered by the RSPro line, the series also utilizes an open materials and repair platform.
“UnionTech SL equipment’s open access approach to materials is very refreshing, and we are glad to be a part of it,” says Arshad Khan, Somos Sales Manager, the Americas. “Somos has over 25 years of experience developing innovative materials for the industry and has supplied material to over 500 UnionTech machines.”
UnionTech’s clients span numerous industries, including automotive, aerospace, medicine, arts, appliances, higher education, tooling and more. Parts created with UnionTech’s industrial 3D printers, which also include the Pilot SD SLA printer, offer strong surface quality with layer thickness of .05 to .08 mm, as well as large build sizes ranging from 250 to 800 mm squared. If you’re in the United States and would like to take a look at the RSPro line for yourself, you can arrange a visit to RP Sales’ facility by contacting marketing manager Hannah Crawford at 641-651-0266 or hannah@rpsales.us. Discuss in the RSPro forum at 3DPB.com.
