Colleges around the world are starting to see the potential of 3D printing. As we enter a competitive, futuristic atmosphere, colleges and universities want to have facilities where their students can see what 3D printing is all about.
FSU has just announced that with the help of 3D Systems, they are now getting 3D printing technology for their Innovation Lab.
3D Systems is supplying the College of Communication and Information at Florida State University with Cube 3 and CubePro 3D printers, as well as a Sense 3D scanner, and digital sculpting software. This isn’t the first time that 3D Systems has donated printers for educational purposes.
“We are committed to empowering this generation of students with tomorrow’s skills today, and we believe that at the core of tomorrow’s necessary workforce skills is 3D design and printing,” said Leanne Gluck, director of social impact for 3D Systems.
3D printing will undoubtedly become more popular in the coming years, and this is a way for FSU to show their students what they have to look forward to as they progress through college and make their way toward getting their first post-collegiate jobs.
“This gift will have a tremendous impact on FSU students,” said Larry Dennis, dean of the College of Communication and Information.
