Terry Wohlers of Wohlers Associates Inc. knows a lot about 3D printing. The Wohlers Associates consulting firm has been providing news and advice on 3D printing for 28 years, since the early days of additive manufacturing. Their annual publication the Wohlers Report is widely regarded as the most comprehensive and authoritative report on the industry, prompting some to even refer to it as “the Bible of 3D printing.” It’s no surprise, then, that Wohlers is a hot commodity at industry conferences. Today, MecklerMedia announced that Wohlers will be a keynote speaker at next month’s Inside 3D Printing Shanghai Conference & Expo, which will be taking place from December 8-10 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center.
This isn’t Wolhers’ first stint as a keynote speaker at Inside 3D Printing; earlier this year he gave the opening keynote at the Seoul conference. His address was full of promising news about the current state of the additive manufacturing industry, and was incredibly optimistic about its future. He also served as an expert on the “Ask the Experts” panel at Inside 3D Printing Santa Clara just last month. Now that the year is drawing to a close, it will be interesting to hear his projections for 2016 and beyond.
Wohlers is only one of an impressive lineup of speakers for the second annual Shanghai conference, which will focus on new ways to apply additive manufacturing to numerous industries from medicine to toy design. Additional contributors include Lionel T. Dean, Founder and Creative Director of FutureFactories; Kim Francois, Managing Director for Materialise China; Yang Yihu, President and CEO of ESUN; and Garrison Zong, Chairman and CEO of 3DP Technology Inc, just to name a few. The conference will be sponsored by MBot3D, Silver Sponsor EFESTO LLC, and Gold Sponsor SLM Solutions, joined by a long list of exhibitors.
Session topics will include:
- Reinterpreting Hype and Progress: A Glimpse Into the Future of 3D Printing
- 3D Printing Surgical Implants
- The Application of 3D Printing Technology in Culture Creativity Industry
- 3D Printing: Education for the 21st Century
- Novel Materials: Production, Processing & Performance
