digitizer2If you are someone that loves using your 3D Printer, but hates to spend days on end perfecting your designs, it might be time to add an additional gadget to your repertoire.  3D scanners, although they haven’t be around for long, can be the perfect tool for any 3D designer.  3D scanners allow designers to scan an object, and then either print it out, or make changes to it prior to printing it.

Yesterday MakerBot announced that they are holding a sale for their Digitizer 3D Scanner on Amazon.com.  The scanner’s original price of $1,400 has been cut all the way down to only $750.  This sale will run until Friday, February 7 at Noon ET.  It is also being offered at a few other online retailers for the $750 price, during this sale.  Surprisingly though, the MakerBot website still has it listed at $949.

The Digitizer is known for its quick scan times, that capture very minute details.  The average scan time is only 12 minutes, and it gets a detailed resolution of 0.5mm, with a dimensional accuracy of +-2 mm.
