b4Another week, another 3D printable over sized character, released by Bold Machines for their upcoming feature film called ‘Margo’. Last week’s scooter and sidecar design for Margo’s dog named Eddie was a hit, receiving over 870 downloads in just 8 days. Now it’s time for another human being to be added to the cast.

Bold Machines has just released the files for the first of two ‘Bridge Workers’, who will have roles in their upcoming film. Decked out in cache shorts, hanging just low enough for his butt crack to grab some air, a white cut-off shirt unable to make it past his rather hefty abdomen, and a heart ‘mom’ tattoo, the Bridge Worker isn’t the most serious of characters.b2

Seriousness isn’t necessary though, as Bold Machines intends to use both Bridge Workers to offer comedic relief within the film. High atop the Brooklyn Bridge, both workers will gladly offer commentary and perspective on the city and the gossip you will find within. As for the story line used by Bold Machines in describing this new character’s role, they explain as follows:

“The city has been trying to track down a power draw from the network for years. They know that there is a lot of power being pulled from the Brooklyn bridge but they can’t account for it. (The power is going to Margo’s workshop to power experiments and her large 3D printers) The city has assigned two bridge workers to track down the power usage. They’ve been looking for years to try and explain the mystery.”

The model, which is shown within this article, was designed by Jose Alves da Silva, and then painted by talented artist, Adrian Yablin, both of whom have been working on all the Margo characters since the idea’s inception. There are a total of 14 files making up this Bridge Worker, all of which can be printed easily at full scale with a MakerBot Replicator Z18 3D printer. For those of you who do not own this 3D printer or any machine with a comparable build volume, Bold Machines is still offering a 10% discount to all customers who use the coupon code ‘TENOFFZ18’ at checkout.

Let us know if you’ve downloaded the files to print out the Bridge Worker. Feel free to post your prints within the Bold Machines forum thread on 3DPB.com.
