XYZprinting, the company behind the da Vinci line of 3D printers, had a large booth set up at this year’s “Inside 3D Printing,” conference.  There, the company showed off all three of their machines, which included the da Vinci 1.0, 2.0, and latest addition 2.1.

XYZprinting is known for their affordable, yet sophisticated 3D printers and in this market you need to innovate in order to stay davin-2ahead of the growing number of competitors entering.  That is just what XYZprinting is doing.  For just $499 you can purchase the da Vinci 1.0, and for $849 you can be the proud owner of a da Vinci 2.1, which features dual extruders, and an easy to use touchscreen interface.

The innovation doesn’t stop there though.  In a statement made by Gary Shu, senior manger of market development at XYZprinting, to Computerworld this week, he revealed something that many 3D printing enthusiasts have been hoping to hear.  Gary told Computerworld, that by the end of this year they hope to be able to launch an all-in-one 3D printer/scanner combo.  Such a device would davin-1likely allow users to place an object inside the printer, scan that object, and then begin to replicate it moments later, layer by layer, out of filament.

“Our aim is to improve the speed, quality and usability of our printers,” Shu told Computerworld. “Also, we’re hoping to add different applications…and 3D scanners are a hot topic right now.”

There is no doubt that this market is becoming extremely competitive.  This could be seen this week at the “Inside 3D Printing,” conference and expo, where there were a large number of 3D printer companies on hand, many pitching very similar products.  Anything to set a company apart from the competition would be huge as this market continues to expand.  Stay tuned to the XYZPrinting Thread at 3DPrintboard for further updates.
