Submissions close on October 12th, and the winner will be announced on the 28th.

There are two categories to choose from: the Cabinet of Curiosities, and Halloween Props.

ccCabinet of Curiosities

If you choose to make something for this category, your 3D printed model should be an interesting and strange curiosity to go in the MyMiniFactory cabinet. Printability is as vital as intrigue, of course, and MyMiniFactory says it’s not required that the item be dark and scary, but it should be as interesting as possible, as ”precious and rare objects also make for fantastic show pieces.” No creative pressure here, but they do welcome “priceless jewelery pieces, weapons from unknown warriors, and ceramics from lost dynasties.”

For this category, MyMiniFactory asks that you ”let your imagination go wild!” They also, if you need a little boost, offer a download for a mask that you can customize. Also given as ideas and images for suggestions besides masks are canes, wands, and the like. It’s recommended that you check out their props and costume section as well.

Make sure to click here to read their guide for your design. They offer tips for support, structure, design, text, orientation, and more. All entries are to be zipped in STL format, along with a render measuring 800×800 pixels, and a detailed object description stating which category you are entering. Designs will be test printed and upon passing the printing process will be entered into the running. If you own a printer, they ask that you include hi-resolution photos of a 3D print of your entry, along with 3D printing settings.

With the grand prize, the FlashForge Dreamer 3D printer, FlashForge promises that “the only limitation is your imagination.” That’s quite appropriate for coming up with a frightening, freaky item for the cabinet of curiousity or a terrifying Halloween prop. Give it your best—Halloween is one of those holidays where you can really go all out and put your creativity to the test.

Touting high performance combined with affordability, The Dreamer is FlashForge’s most recent model. It’s a sleek, professional machine, based on FFF technology. If you win one of these, you’ll be able to print high quality, professional designs with an innovative new LCD screen that is high resolution, and offers thorough communication regarding your print jobs so you can remain focused on your work. This printer is worth $1299, and has been reviewed by 3DPrint.com here.

MyMiniFactory is a free library of 3D printable, beautiful, and useful objects. The first version of MyMiniFactory was launched by UK-based iMakr in 2013, as “the result of many months of hard work by a professional team of experienced 3D designers.”  Is their contest one you would be interested in entering? Are you 3D printing any other interesting Halloween items? If so, tell us about them in the Halloween 3D printing forum thread on 3DPB.com.
