download (1)Zortrax is a company with the right idea. Their ongoing mission has been to provide accessibility to 3D printing–whether in cities or in rural areas–and to do their part in seeing that new generations of engineers and designers have valuable skillsets in new technology. Bringing their 3D printers not just to the world but especially to their native Poland, Zortrax was founded in Olsztyn in 2011.

We’ve followed Zortrax as they’ve evolved, from opening the first retail outlet and 3D printing hub in Krakow to granting 180 M200 3D printers to public institutions in Poland. They offer a commitment to seeing that users have quality printers, as well as quality training. All that good work is leading to good results overall financially as well, and it was no surprise to hear that Zortrax estimates sales results for its M200 printer during Q4 should be 25 % higher than the last one.

The new Zortrax Inventure 3D Printer

So far, sales figures for mid-December show three times as many M200 printers sold in 2015, compared to last year. The Polish manufacturer also expects sales of Zortrax’s Inventure printer to yield visible results within the first quarter of 2016.

“Our products are widely popular in our most important market–Europe,” says Rafał Tomasiak, CEO and founder of Zortrax. “Sweden and the UK have been particularly interested in our offer recently. We’ve also got a strong presence in markets in Asia, and sales in North America are gradually improving.”

For the first three quarters of 2015, 87% of the company’s income was generated abroad, with revenues reaching PLN 25.5 million–showing twice as much recorded last year. Net profit came to PLN 5.3 million, which is very impressive compared to 2014’s PLN 2.8 million. While 74% of income came from the M200 last year, this year it registered at 84%.

“Every printer we sell generates a constant demand for 3D printing materials, which is why we expect this section of our income to grow in importance. We are constantly working on developing new materials with properties tailored to match our customers’ needs,” said Tomasiak.

Zortrax’s other sources of income include sales of 3D printing materials (17%) and sales of components and accessories (9%). Now, it looks as if the Inventure printer will be adding to revenues in quite a healthy manner as well, as pre-orders for this month became available.Untitled

“I have to admit, the number of orders we’ve received has exceeded our original estimates,” said Tomasiak. “We hope that the sales of our new device will yield visible results within the first quarter of 2016.”

Current reports show that public interest in the Inventure is corresponding to nearly half of average monthly sales for the M200 3D printer this year.

“After analyzing our sales data for the M200 printer in the first two weeks of December, we can assume that the two products won’t compete with one other; especially since they utilize slightly different 3D printing technology,” said Tomasiak. “After the first two weeks of December, sales of the M200 printer reached approximately 55% of the average monthly sales for this model in 2015.”

With international resellers in 50 countries around the world, Zortrax is continually working on research and development, and refinement of current products. Their dedication has earned them numerous accolades, such as:

  • Honorable mention – 2014 Design Alive Awards
  • Best Plug & Play device by 3D Hubs (Zortrax M200 printer)
  • Best Desktop device by 3D Hubs (Zortrax M200 printer)
  • Rafał Tomasiak, founder and CEO of Zortrax, was named EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year in the “new business” category

Meant for businesses of all sizes, and even individual workshops, Zortrax 3D printing systems are being used on a wide range of platforms, to include aviation, the auto industry, and far more.  Discuss this story in the Zortrax M200 forum thread on 3DPB.com.
