pinshape-logoPinshape and Madesolid have teamed up to make this Halloween month even more fun than usual with a 3D printing contest that offers a lot of fun competition for creating fun 3D models, as well as the opportunity of winning big with 3D printing materials.

All you have to do is relax, enjoy yourself, and create a cool 3D model to submit to this latest contest, running until October 31st. Have you got more than one great idea for 3D printing? Submit them all, and pump up your chances to win even further, with the prize being a roll of Madesolid‘s industry leading PET+ filament. With two separate parts allowed for entering this contest, you should find yourself duly inspired to make–and share.

“As a Maker, you know that one of the best parts of 3D printing is showing off your finished prints to your friends and family. Now’s your chance to get rewarded for doing what you already love!” says the team at Pinshape.

UntitledTo enter and get as many ‘likes’ as possible to win, and to maximize your chances of winning one of 200 rolls of filament, you can upload a print to Pinshape and enter it, by:

  • Downloading a design from Pinshape
  • 3D printing the design
  • Taking some pictures and uploading them, with print settings, to Pinshape

For this segment of the contest, those entering have the opportunity to each win one of 150 rolls of MadeSolid PET filament, plus free shipping. Each upload counts as one entry.

The other segment of the contest, to win one of 50 rolls of filament available, takes an even more contemporary–and social–tact, allowing you to:

  • Sign in and enter through Facebook
  • Share your model with a Tweet
  • Follow @pinshape on Twitter

‘Spooky Stan’ from South Park

So far, hundreds of 3D models have been submitted. While there are, as we know, many other contests out there offering big cash prizes and 3D printers and more, this smaller contest is extremely popular–and so easy to enter. We’re seeing 3D models for the season like the ‘Halloween Black Cat,’ fabricated on a RepRap Prusa i3, the ‘Spooky Stan’ figurine a la South Park, made on a Wanhao Duplicator i3, as well as the ‘Halloween Pumpkin Witch’, 3D printed on a Sharebot Next Generation.

There are numerous other exciting entries as well, not Halloween-related, like familiar gaming faces such as the 3D printed ‘Low Poly Pokemon,’ the ‘MakerTron Logistibot’–and a wide range of other fun ideas, spanning everything from toys like the ‘Whale Toy’ to the ‘Candy Machine,’ to a bevy of iPhone accessories like stands and cases.

It’s definitely true that when you are 3D printing items like this, the fun is in sharing them, as well as inspiring others. And if you win some material to feed to your 3D printer in the process, even better. This particular contest gives you the opportunity to share through not only Pinshape, but the world–via social media. We look forward to following the progress of this contest and reporting on some of the winners soon.
