Pebble Steel 3D Print Files Released
The smartwatch, which raised over $10 million on Kickstarter back in 2012 began shipping it’s latest version on Tuesday, the Pebble Steel. Priced at $249, it is $100 more than the original Pebble smartwatch which launched the company a year and a half ago.
The Pebble Steel, however, packs a lot more into its tiny 1.97 oz package. In addition to a glass covering, modern looks, and a new LED indicator light, the Steel will also have upgraded software, and more importantly, an app store! If that isn’t enough to get you to reach for your wallets, than maybe today’s news coming from the Pebble Twitter feed will. Just hours ago, they announced the release of the Pebble Steel 3D print files on Github. The following message was included with the files,
Here’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for: the release of Pebble’s 3D drawings. Looking forward to seeing some awesome designs on thingiverse!
According to Pebble, several files have been released for immediate download, editing and printing. This means you can use your 3D design skills to make custom accessories, skins, and bands. Pebble specifically noted that this will allow Steel owners to make bands like those seen on GadgetWraps, who is known for their quality custom Pebble bands. Needless to say, this will allow for a free, fully customizable experience for users.
