vegafeaturedIt seems as though we have been reporting on newly released desktop 3D printers on a daily basis. As more and more companies begin realizing the potential that this technology has for the future of prototyping and even end-use production, they are scurrying to grab a piece of the pie. Recently at the Inside 3D Printing Conference in New York City, there were several companies on hand unveiling and/or releasing new hardware. One of these companies was one that most of you probably have never heard of previously.

vega2Doogell is a China-based company which was just founded earlier this year. In March, they released their first product, the Sirius 3D printer, which features a 600 x 600 x 400 mm build volume. However, after judging the market’s response, they also felt that a smaller 3D printer was needed for those individuals looking to print out average sized objects, but not looking to spend a ton of money to do so.

After some market research, the company tells us that they decided to release the Doogell Vega, a smaller 3D printer, which was officially unveiled at the Inside 3D Printing Conference this April. The Vega features a 200 x 200 x 300 mm build volume and an innovative build platform which can be pulled out, allowing for easy access to the printed object without needing to remove the entire platform.

“Every single part of the Vega originates from elaborate design and selection,” a spokesperson for Doogell told 3DPrint.com. “It features high quality linear guide rails to enhance printing accuracy and ensure the stability of objects while printing.”

The printer also features a full-color touch screen, allowing for simple operation of the machine, and fully automated bed leveling which saves users time when trying to get a print job started. The printer is priced at $2800 and is currently available for purchase. More specifications can be found below:

  • Build Volume: 200 x 200 x 200 mm
  • Printer Size: 375 x 375 x 385 mm
  • Layer Resolution: 0.1-0.3mm
  • Nozzle Diameter: 0.4mm
  • Number of Extruders: 1
  • Filament Size: 1.75mm
  • Printing Material: PLA
  • LCD Screen: 5.6 inch color touch screen
  • Data Input: SD Card/PC
  • Printing Speed: 50-120mm/s
  • Supported File Type: STL/OBJ
  • Power Requirements: 110V/220V, 120W
  • Printer Weight: 30KG

vega4I walked away thoroughly impressed with the prints that were coming off of this printer. As you can see in the photos provided, the resolution and cleanliness of the prints were of very high quality.

It should be interesting to keep an eye on this company and see what else they end up bringing to market in the future. What do you think about the VEGA? Discuss in the Doogell Vega Forum thread on 3DPB.com.
