Professional 3D printer manufacturer Artillery 3D Technology Co., Ltd. is based in Shenzhen, China, and has been focused on research and development efforts so it can create affordable, reliable technology. Founded in 2018, the company is housed in a plant with more than 1,000 square meters of space and employs designers, an R&D team, a production team, and sales staff, all who have the same mission: provide customers with a one-stop 3D printing solution.

Artillery 3D offers a Cartesian-style 3D printer called the Sidewinder X1, which is available for purchase from the company’s official Aliexpress online store. This all-in-one 3D printer has all sorts of great features that make it an attractive system for the desktop, including a synchronized dual Z axis, an XYZ resolution of 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.1 mm, and a direct drive Titan extruder, which offers better support for flexible filament. Speaking of filament, you can use 1.75 mm PLA, ABS, TPU, and other flexible materials with Artillery 3D’s printer.
With a 300 x 300 x 400 mm build volume, the FFF Sidewinder X1 3D printer has a hushed operating sound, thanks to its ultra-quiet stepper drivers. The company’s website states that 3D printer noise is “always a problem to tackle,” and if that isn’t the truth, I don’t know what is. But Artillery 3D spent months researching this particular issue, and the hard work paid off in its very quiet stepper drivers, which, when compared to other desktop 3D printers, “dissipate much less heat” and also have a higher torque.
“We only works with the best quality suppliers in the market (within our cost, while maintain a high quality),” Lena told us when we asked what made the Sidewinder X1 a good 3D printer.
“The machine’s build is sturdy. We’ve tried sitting on top of the gantry, and machine still functions normally and produces good prints afterwards (the person weighed around 50 Kg). The printer has neat cable management, a direct drive extruder and a fast heating AC heat bed with built in thermal runaway protection. Even if the board or the SSR malfunctioned, the bed won’t heat up endlessly until bad things happen.”
Other features that make the 14 Kg Sidewinder X1 unique are its fast 3D printing speed of 150 mm per second, a touchscreen, mechanical sensors for detection and print recovery in instances of power loss and the filament running out, and a rapid heating AC print bed, which offers exclusive thermal runaway protection.
According to the Artillery 3D website, the bed is also easy to manually level, and it only takes the Volcano nozzle – a standard 0.4 mm – about five minutes to heat up to 110°C. Additionally, the standard nozzle can also be switched out for a 0.2 mm or 0.3 mm variety. The heated bed can heat up to 80C in 2 minutes and 110C in 3 minutes.
When it arrives on your doorstep, the Sidewinder X1 comes 95% pre-assembled, which makes installation easy as can be. The 3D printer also features a branded power supply unit, which helps ensure stable and sufficient power.

So, how much will it cost you to purchase the handy desktop Sidewinder X1 3D printer? Lena told us that the “official price” in the US is just $498.96, though prices are different in other countries. In addition, if you buy a Sidewinder X1 via the online shop from now until April 30th, you will also receive one roll of free PLA (color randomly selected)!
Artillery 3D will be having another big 3D printer promotion starting this week, so you’ll want to stay tuned for more information on that. Additionally, the company itself will be going through a rebranding process soon for an interesting and, in my opinion, thoughtful reason.
Lena explained to us that the company has come to realize that its current brand name could be considered offensive in some countries, which I don’t doubt. That’s why it has made the savvy business decision to change its name from Artillery 3D to EVNOVO. With the kind of hot button issue its current name evokes, this change makes a lot of sense.
However, while the company is going through its rebranding, customers should be aware that any Sidewinder X1 3D printer purchased in the meantime could come with either the Artillery 3D brand or the EVNOVO brand on it; this kind of change for the better will take time, after all.
