download-32At first many debated on how China would react to and be affected by 3D printing overall. It was mainly wondered if they would be toppled from their status in holding the rest of the world hostage in terms of manufacturing. The result seems to be that China continues to lead as the most affordable manufacturing country and they are excelling in the realm of 3D printing, having embraced it wholeheartedly. 3D printing? No problem.

From medicine to construction to creating new methods for 3D printing with metal, China is downright enthusiastic about the technology—and who wouldn”t be upon checking out the benefits to be had, especially on the bottom line? Farsoon Technologies has made their commitment known, announcing during the last day of formnext 2016 that they had formed a collaboration with an industry specialist, Laser Sintering Service (LSS), evidenced by the launch of their 403P series plastic laser sintering system.

“I see this is a natural next step for our two companies. Over the past years Farsoon and LSS have fostered a very complimentary relationship,” Dr. Xiaoshu Xu, Chairman of Farsoon Technologies, said. “We are very happy to establish with LSS a strong setup for the Europeans market and to seal our partnership which has grown to be more than just business partners.”

This is a partnership strategic enough and serious enough to include Farsoon’s acquiring shares of the company. As they work together, both Farsoon and LSS will complement each other with their different strengths in 3D printing, technology, and service solutions. LSS will also be serving as both the distributor and service arm for Farsoon’s European Research and Development Centre.

“Having started as a service provider for laser sintering equipment and now being a well-known solution development partner with an excellent reputation, we see with this significant investment and commitment from Farsoon (as a chance) to grow LSS faster and expand our activities in Europe,” Guido Elbrecht, CEO of LSS, said.

LSS is certainly not a newcomer, with a track record as a service provider that’s been running for more than ten years. They also distribute and provide:

  • High-quality upgrades
  • Customized solutions
  • Laser sintering and stereolithography materials
  • Application support for any materials

Founded in 2009, Farsoon Technologies is known as a specialist in laser sintering equipment, materials, prototyping services, and also technical support.

“If we want to keep manufacturing jobs in China, we need to improve technology,” Xu said.

“This technology will replace traditional industry in the long run. In theory, you can use it to make a car or a plane. But at the moment it’s too expensive,” he added.

In addition, Farsoon and chemical company BASF are working as team to offer a complete 3D printing solution by creating superior hardware and materials that are available more affordably to customers.

As the two companies continue to partner, they hope to show customers exactly how they can benefit from the power of 3D printing with examples from real-life applications and an understanding of how beneficial the opportunities for customization and self-sustainability are.
