BEEVERYCREATIVE is a company that prides itself on its sleek, easy to use, 3D printer called BEETHEFIRST, as well as an entire ecosystem around that device. It’s probably one of the nicest looking printers on the market, but that doesn’t mean much. More than just looks, the BEETHEFIRST 3D printer is also quite a productive machine.
Part of the ecosystem around this printer is the BEESOFT software which is responsible for communicating with the BEETHEFIRST 3D printer, enabling 3D models to be printed with ease. Today the company announced a major update to this software.
BEESOFT 3.9.0 (beta) is launching today. The most exciting addition made to the software in this recent update, is the ‘standalone’ function. Standalone allows BEETHEFIRST to print without being connected to a computer, which according to the company “represents a significant improvement in user freedom/autonomy.”
Additional noteworthy features of this update are as follows:
- ‘Autonomous’ option allows for the closure of the BEESOFT software, and the disconnection of the USB cable mid-print, without interrupting the process
- Ability to select a given element by clicking its name
- A larger click area for easier model manipulation
BEEVERYCREATIVE is also working hard on additional updates to their software in order to allow users to pause a print mid-fabrication, as well as the ability to implement Wi-Fi connectivity, and provide estimates of the weight and print time of an object before it is printed. For those of you with a BEETHEFIRST 3D printer, this should be quite a significant update, however, the company wants to stress that this by no means is out of beta, and there may be kinks along the way.
Are you an owner of a BEETHEFIRST 3D printer? Have you downloaded the software update as of yet? Let us know what you think in the BEESOFT forum thread on 3DPB.com. Check out the video provided below by BEEVERYCREATIVE, explaining some of the new features of this update.
