Today Afinia officially launched it’s new H480 3D printer. The latest addition to the 3D printing world is Afinia’s second foray into the printer hardware market. Their H479 printer was their first device, which was afinia-featreleased in 2012, and priced at $1599.

The H480 has several updated features that its predecessor lacked. This include the ability to auto-level the print platform within seconds. The printer does this by taking nine different measurments of the platform, in various spots. Another added feature is its nozzle height detection, which will allow for more accurate, error free printing, and less sticking.

“The Afinia H-Series 3D Printer provides a true Out-of-the-Box 3D Printing Experience as the 3D Printer comes fully assembled with easy to install software for both the afinia-1PC and Mac. The Afinia H-Series 3D Printer can prototype a part or model that is up to 5 inches cubed in dimensions. The output is accurate to within .15mm (6 thousandths of an inch), and has 30% of the strength of injection molded parts,” Afinia stated in a release.

Here are the specifications of the Afinia H480:

  • Build Platform: Approximately 5 inches in all directions
  • Layer Thickness: 0.15 – 0.40mm
  • Printer Size: W:245 x D:260 x H:350mm
  • Weight of Printer: 11 lbs
  • Operating System: Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1, Mac OS 10.6 & above
  • Warranty: 1 year, includes parts and labor

Just like the H479, the The H480 is moderately priced at $1599. Discuss this new printer at the Afinia H480 forum thread. Also check out the printer setup overview video below:
