This week Suicide Squad, the third film from DC Comics extended universe, hits the big screen and it looks like it’s going to be a massive hit. While the critical reception hasn’t been great the movie is still tracking to have the largest August opening ever. While the poor reviews don’t bode well for the future of DC’s attempt to replicate the success of the Marvel shared universe, the movie still looks like it’s going to be a hit. I know that I’m excited for it despite the reviews, and I expect that much like Batman vs Superman it will be a flawed film that I still find enjoyable.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Suicide Squad, don’t worry — it’s a pretty simple concept. A government agent named Amanda Waller assembles a team of the worst DC villains around, puts a bomb in their heads and then sends them off to fight other bad guys. Officially the squad’s name is Task Force X, and in the movie version characters like Deadshot, an assassin who never misses; Harley Quinn, a therapist and the Joker’s girlfriend; El Diablo, a pyromaniac ex-gang member; and Captain Boomerang, who throws boomerangs, come together to stop the evil Enchantress. The criminal members of the squad are supervised by Rick Flag, a military commander working for Waller and his bodyguard Katana who wields a sword that can communicate with dead souls. And just to top everything off, the Joker and Batman both make appearances.
To get everyone in the mood for Suicide Squad it seemed like an obvious choice to hunt down some 3D printable models based on the characters from the movie. Unfortunately there aren’t yet a ton of models to choose from, but I found ten great 3D printable things ranging from quick prints to highly detailed 3D printing projects that will put all of your skills to the test. So here they are, Ten 3D Printable Suicide Squad Things:

Will Smith stars as Floyd Lawton aka Deadshot, a deadly assassin who never misses. This great bust of Smith as Deadshot looks great and is an excellent painting project. The bust has tons of great details from the movie costume, but it is simple enough that the model can easily be smoothed out without losing too much detail.
Jared Leto Joker by Corey Boland
Found on: MyMiniFactory
Cost: Free
In the movie Jared Leto plays iconic Batman villain the Joker, and while his portrayal looks to be a controversial take on the character, at least they are trying something new. This great figure is an excellent likeness of the Joker that is ideal for painting and displaying.
Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn by Matthew Clarke
Found on: MyMiniFactory
Cost: Free
Sure to be the breakout star of the movie, Margot Robbie portrays Harley Quinn, the former psychologist who the Joker managed to twist into becoming his girlfriend and sidekick. While the unstable Harley is gaga for Joker, she is also a capable woman who starts to wake up and reject the Joker’s abuse. This figure is based on the character’s appearance in the movie, including her leather jacket and baseball bat.
Suicide Squad keychain by Ubero
Found on: Thingiverse
Cost: Free
The movie’s unique and fun logo makes a perfect keychain or zipper pull and already has a loop on it to make it easy to attach. If you have a dual extruder then you can print it in two different colors, or you can just paint the logo any color that you want.
Front part of Deadshot mask, 3D Printable Mask of Deadshot by i.mark
Found on: Treatstock
Cost: Varies
This fantastic replica Deadshot mask is perfect for cosplay or just for displaying in your home. It includes the full mask, including the front and rear half and the small device that fits over his eye that assists Deadshot’s aim. The designer also created a miniature version here. And you can learn how to make this mask, including the working light up eye piece, over on Instructables.
3D Printable Katana Mask from Suicide Squad by i.mark
Found on: Treatstock
Cost: Varies
The same designer who created the Deadshot mask also made a Katana mask, and it’s a gorgeous design. In the movie the mask looks like it is made of porcelain, so the designer created an Instructable that will show you how to recreate the cool texture.

Suicide Squad _ Coins by Réjane ollagnon
Found on: MyMiniFactory
Cost: Free
These great coins are based on a series of character logos that were released as promotional material from the movie, and they are pretty cool. The parts were designed so they could be printed using three different filament colors, all you need to have is a 3D printer that will let you pause a print while you swap filament colors. But the coins can also be painted if you don’t want to bother with starting or stopping your printer.
Dawn Of Justice Batarang by Lex Cole
Found on: MyMiniFactory
Cost: Free
In the movie, Batman, played by Ben Affleck, shows up and gives the squad a bit of trouble, so I really wanted to include a Batman model on this list. Lucky for me someone has already created the new and extremely cool Batarang from the upcoming Dawn of Justice movie.
Found on: MyMiniFactory
Cost: Free
If the movie full logo doesn’t interest you then maybe this simple logo will. It’s just a twisted looking Joker face printed on a dog tag-shaped pendant or keychain. You can 3D print it in two colors as shown here, or just paint the final print if you don’t want to bother swapping filament rolls.
Harley Quinn’s Revolver from Suicide Squad by pyos3d
Found on: Pinshape
Cost: Free
The star of this week’s list is by far this amazing 3D printable revolver used by Harley Quinn in the movie. It’s incredibly detailed and just looks really cool. The model is covered with cool details like rows of Harley’s logo, a Joker face on the handle and “Love” and “Hate” printed on the working ammo cylinder. If making one of these is too much work for you, but you must have one, the designer is selling them on Etsy.
Here is a video showing off the revolver’s details:
Thanks for reading my column this week and have fun going to see Suicide Squad. If you 3D print any of the models that I’ve collected here, or find some that I missed, I’d love to see them. You can feel free to email me or just send me a Tweet @SJGrunewald. And you can also let me know what you thought of the movie while you’re at it!
