3dee Onyx – Large Build Size 3D Printer Emerges From Singapore

3D Printing has become a world-wide phenomenon, as it has really begun to catch on in countries that have not exactly been at the forefront of technology in the past. Yesterday we reported on a new 3D printer company from Pakistan, called Xpolorer 3D, and a couple weeks ago we discussed WASProject, a company which is aiming to 3D print houses in third world countries. The technology is not just catching on in America and in Europe. In fact, Asia has become a region that has fully engulfed itself into 3D printing over the last couple of years.  Some of the most sophisticated 3D printers, as well as some of the largest build volume printers, have come out of Asia recently.

Today comes news of a brand new 3D printer that comes to us from Singapore. A company called 3dee Creations, has just held their official launch event for their new Onyx 3D printer, which is available for pre-order with a minimal lead time of just 4-6 weeks.  It’s not the first 3D printer to come out of Singapore, and it certainly won’t be the last.  However, it does appear to be one of the more high quality 3D printers to emerge from the region.

The Onyx 3D Printer ships worldwide, and features a 200x200x200 mm build volume, with 50 micron layer thickness, as well as a controllable heated print bed. It is compatible with a wide range of materials, including PLA, ABS, nylon, and laywood. It also utilizes a high precision seamless rod system, which 3dee Creations says provides “high quality prints with lower noise levels, compared to other fdm 3D printers”.  To make the printing process simple, 3dee Creations has also included an intuitive LCD display.

The Onyx prints with a layer to layer resolution as fine as 100 microns, and features speeds as fast as 250mm/s. It also comes standard with a one year warranty which covers parts and workmanship, as well as a one year service warranty.

Here are some more specifications:

The 3dee Onyx is priced at only $1,688, which is a fair price for a high quality 3D printer. What do you think? Would you consider purchasing a 3dee Onyx? Discuss in the 3dee Onyx 3D printer forum thread on 3DPB.com. Check out the introduction video below:
