This Week’s Top 3D Printable 3DShare Models: “Getting High” with Airplanes, Marijuana Leaf Decals & More!

Each week on 3DShare, there are many new models uploaded, downloaded, and shared to the delight of 3D designers and printers alike. And it is always interesting when I receive the list of the most popular models for the week because you truly never know what will be on it. Given the data from the past weeks’ top printed model reviews, I can now expect to see something from Richard Swika and Leonard Butts, two designers who regularly contribute models. From Swika’s past nudes and this week’s jewelry box, to Butts’ past tinker toy creations, ball and chain gag gift, and this week’s marijuana leaves…There’s also plane models, an odd monster, and a plastic gripper for pencils that have become too short to use alone. Each of this week’s models is available for download for 99 cents.

Tail Dragger and Sea Plane

Kurt R. Hamel kicks off this week’s models with two plane models: one’s a tail dragger and one’s a sea plane made to land on water. Both are shown printed in bright colors. What colors would your plane fly? These planes might not be flight-ready, but they certainly are ready for display or for acting as a great toy!

Piko!

A pencil gripper can be used for old pencils that are too short to use alone, but they can also be used by people who have problems gripping small pencils for a variety of reasons. Kids, elderly people, and anyone with a medical gripping problem can benefit from these cheery Piko! pencil grippers from popular designer Castomized. At 1.7 x 1.7 x 8 cm, these can be easily printed on a compact printer.

“Odd Monster” HD Sculpt

The established designers on this site have nothing on the 4-year-old who sketched the design for this “odd monster,” which was scribbled on paper, sculpted in ZBrush by Bassna, and printed in two parts. What an odd monster it is! With buggy alien horn eyes backed up by an extra set in his head, a large upper body, kind of skinny legs, and enormous claws — the only reassuring thing is that it looks like its big clawed feet are in shackles, and he dons a constraining vest of some kind… Or did he escape from a dungeon and he’s coming to your house next?

Cat on a Ring Box

Richard Swika’s jewelry box design that has a bird on it has turned into a line of boxes as this week brings us the cat on the ring box. Textured, yet hollow, and printed with supports, this box stands on its own as a cute little holder for your favorite mementos or with the bird box, as a collection of cuteness that can grace almost any shelf in the house. There’s even an entire YouTube video devoted to this devotional item here.

Marijuana Leaf Decal

Lawrence Butts never ceases to surprise us lately as one of the top model designers for 3D Share several weeks running. His last designs centered around toys, but he’s gone off on an appropriate tangent with this week’s marijuana decal models. Marijuana, like playing with tinker toys or making a 3D printed ball and chain, is becoming more of a common hobby and even a livelihood, so I won’t be surprised to see more of this controversial plant gracing the pages of 3DShare and other 3D model websites.

Let us know if any of these struck your fancy in this week’s Top 3DShare Models forum thread over at 3DPB.com.
