MOD-t 3D Printer Will Be Priced at Under $300 – Indiegogo Campaign Launching May 28

newmatter-featuredJust last week, we reported that ‘New Matter‘ would be launching a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for their new MOD-t 3D printer. We later reported on further mechanical details just two days ago.

The MOD-t 3D printer will feature an extruder that moves only in the Z direction, while the build plate will move in the X and Y directions. This is different than most 3D printers on the market today, and because of the different mechanical aspects, New Matter is able to keep the price of this new device down.

Just last week, a 3D printer called the Micro 3D, by M3D successfully raised $3.4 million on Kickstarter. This printer was priced at only $299. A lot of people were wondering what the MOD-t would cost once its crowdfunding campaign launched.

3DPrint.com has just been informed by New Matter, that they will be launching their crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo on May 28, and the MOD-t 3D printer will be priced at under $300. This should create a very appealing product, one which will enable just about anyone who wants to have a 3D printer in their home, to purchase one. 3D printing appears to be reaching a price point where even those that just want to try out the technology can afford to have one in their homes. There have been experts, less than a year ago, publicly state that they didn’t think we’d see quality assembled 3D printers hit the market at under $750 anytime soon. Now we will have two separate manufacturers selling two separate 3D printers for less than $300.

What do you think? Would you consider purchasing New Matter’s MOD-t 3D printer for under $300? Discuss in the MOD-t discussion thread on 3DPB.com
