3D Platform offers several variations on the 3DP Workbench, in addition to hybrid additive and subtractive manufacturing machines called the Excel Series. The company has always been focused on large-scale manufacturing, and now it’s going even bigger with the introduction of the WorkCenter 500, a new extra-large-format 3D printer now available for presale. 3D Platform has also always prioritized affordability, and the WorkCenter 500 is no exception, priced at less than $200,000.
“The overwhelmingly positive response to 3DP’s Excel machine has made one thing clear – not all customers need multiple gantries, and both additive and subtractive capabilities,” said Jonathan Schroeder, President of 3D Platform. “Also, many who need an extra-large format machine cannot afford to spend $750k or more. Therefore, we set out to design a purpose-built machine for extra-large format additive manufacturing that wouldn’t break the bank.”
The FFF 3D printer offers a build volume of 1.4 m x 2.8 m x 700 mm. It is currently the only large-format 3D printer on the market to provide the option of either filament or pellets, or both. The high-volume extruders offer a choice of throughput rates ranging from 1.3 kg per hour to more than 7.5 kg per hour. Customers can take advantage of a wide variety of open market filaments or pellets and software that can deliver up to 90% savings over closed ecosystem 3D printers.
