The largest 3D printing event series in the world, Inside 3D Printing has hosted 38 events since 2013, and 3DPrint.com will be attending the next installation in New York next week. It’s already time to start thinking about Seoul, too, because time flies, and it’ll be June before we know it. (At least that’s what I’m telling myself, having just returned to my office after cranking up the heat again like a wimp.) The three-day event, which has been given the theme “The New Era of Digital Manufacturing,” is expected to draw about 9,000 people and more than 70 exhibitors; last year’s Seoul conference featured about 60 exhibitors including prominent global manufacturers such as Stratasys/MakerBot, 3D Systems, EOS, and SLM Solutions, as well as numerous Korean additive manufacturing companies.
Inside 3D Printing has become a major networking event for the industry; according to producer Rising Media, last year’s event resulted in more than 180 contracts worth $100 million being signed within six months after the show closed. This year’s Seoul event will be playing up the networking aspect of the show even more by offering events such as a VIP dinner on June 28 with over 300 industry professionals including speakers, exhibitors, entrepreneurs, press, government officials and both local and overseas buyers. There will also be a cocktail party on June 29 for exhibitors and buyers to meet and discuss possible business opportunities.

Last-minute details are also being released for Inside 3D Printing New York next week; the biggest piece of news is that the opening keynote on March 14 will be presented by Dr. Oren Tepper, Director of Craniofacial and Aesthetic Surgery at Montefiore Health System and Assistant Professor of Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Tepper led the surgical team that successfully separated conjoined twins Jadon and Anias McDonald last year in a delicate procedure that relied heavily on 3D modeling and virtual surgical planning. His keynote, entitled “How 3D Printing and Virtual Surgical Planning Made it Possible to Successfully Separate Conjoined Twins,” will discuss the case and the technology that made it possible.
“We’re honored that Dr. Tepper is joining us at Inside 3D Printing next week to share his tremendous experience and insight into the use of 3D printing in plastic and reconstructive surgery for nearly a decade,” said Matthew Finlay, CEO of Rising Media. “His presentation will provide our attendees with a first-hand look at cutting-edge medical applications for 3D printing, in the same way that the rest of our faculty will address new strategies and techniques for technology in manufacturing, metals, and business.”
Additional keynote speakers will include Wohlers, who will give a talk entitled “The Future of 3D Printing,” and Tyler Benster, General Partner at Asimov Ventures, who will discuss “How Startups are Disrupting the Factory with 3D Printing.” Dr. Tepper’s keynote will kick off the medical track of the conference, chaired by Bunny Ellerin, Co-Founder and President of NYC Health Business Leaders and Director of the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Management Program at Columbia Business School. Inside 3D Printing New York will take place on March 14 and 15; stay tuned as we bring you in-person details from the conference floor!
