Rising Media announced several details about the conference and expo a few weeks ago, but as the event approaches, more information has emerged about who and what we can look forward to seeing in San Diego on December 14 and 15. There’s a lot to pack in to two days, including several prominent speakers, panels on a range of topics, a hackathon, and more.
On December 15, Adriana Vela of NanoTecNexus will chair an interactive panel discussion on diversity in frontier technology. The panel, entitled “Should diversity be a priority in the technology sector?” will discuss the impact of diversity and multiculturalism in business, and will also include Nora Touré from Sculpteo and Women in 3D Printing, and Dulce Baerga of Eolian and Dulce Dotcom. The interactive panel will also invite audience members to contribute to the discussion.
“The opportunity to dissect differing, and even opposing, viewpoints on the subject of diversity is a refreshing approach which I’ve not seen done at any other conference,” said Vela. “Adding the means for audience participation takes it up yet another notch and this is exciting.”
Keynote speeches will be given by several leaders in the fields of virtual reality, 3D printing, and robotics, including:
Robotics:
- Martin Buehler, Executive R&D Imagineer of Walt Disney Imagineering
- Paul Cutsinger of Amazon Alexa
- Henrik Christensen, Professor of Computer Science at the University of California San Diego
3D Printing:
- Hod Lipson, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University
- Weidong Huang, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Solidification Processing at Northwestern Polytechnical University
- Terry Wohlers, Principal Consultant and President of Wohlers Associates
Virtual Reality:
- Dan Ferguson, EVP Digital Interactive Strategy at Groove Jones
- Anthony Esparza, Chief Creative Officer of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment
- Sung-Hoon Hong, Ph.D, Vice President of Samsung Electronics
