Planning a Party? 3D Print Some Political Pricks from Treatstock to Keep Your Sandwiches Together

FrillPicks

Classic sandwich picks.

Nothing is 100% without flaw, and like every other wonderful thing that exists in our world, sandwiches have their drawbacks. There’s often a very fine line between a good sandwich and a bad sandwich, depending on a delicate balance of condiments and fillings – too little sauce or mayo and you’ve got a dry sandwich; too much and you’ve got a soggy sloppy mess. Perhaps the biggest frustration for sandwich fans is the struggle of keeping a sandwich together – it doesn’t matter how much thought you put in or how gourmet your fillings are if it falls apart the second you pick it up.

Unfortunately, that happens all too often; even the best sandwiches are subject to fleeing fillings. That’s why the toothpick is a great invention. It serves so many more purposes than picking things out of one’s teeth – namely, holding sandwiches together. Put a little shiny plastic or foil at the top of a toothpick, and you’ve got a whole new product – the sandwich pick, a festive little tool that pins a sandwich’s components together and keeps them from escaping.

People have gotten rather creative with sandwich picks over the years, designing them in the form of tiny plastic swords, flags, sports logos or any kind of holiday or party theme you can think of. 3D marketplace Treatstock has decided to capitalize on the upcoming election and current political climate in the US with a new, 3D printable variation of the sandwich pick. Introducing – sandwich pricks! (“…just a little word play on presidential food picks,” Treatstock says innocently.)

Sandwich pricks!

Sandwich pricks are formidable plastic spikes that will keep even the biggest sandwiches in their place, and they’re topped with the likenesses of presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, plus Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz, Paul Ryan and a disturbingly scowling Barack Obama. The Treatstock team designed them in collaboration with 3D artist and digital sculptor Tomislav, who has created several other politician-themed models for the site already.

In the true democratic spirit of the presidential election, you can pick whichever prick you want – or, in this case, you can print all six if you’d like to replicate the chaos of the recent Democratic and Republican National Conventions on your picnic table. Disappointed Bernie Sanders fans can shout down all other options if they so choose, while Trump fans can build a Trump-adorned sandwich wall around the main table (and make their neighbors pay for it). Clinton supporters should hope that her sandwich prick can live up to its lofty promises to bring all components together in unity, because otherwise, you just have a mess on your hands, literally – and I’m done now. I apologize (a little bit).

Prices will vary, according to where you have your pricks printed. Treatstock very recently introduced a new online pricing guide, so you can get a good idea of what you’ll pay depending on which print service you decide to go with. Pricing for this particular set of models starts at $7.00, which isn’t bad at all – no one wants an overpriced prick. There’s still a painful amount of time left until the presidential election, but on the bright side, there’s also still quite a bit of time left in barbecue season, so fire up the grill, throw on some burgers, and decide who you think is the most likely to keep your carefully crafted sandwiches from falling into ruin.
