Last year at CES 2015, Shining 3D launched the EinScan-S, which was the newest iteration of their handheld scanners. The EinScan-S featured two scanning modes optimized for small and large objects. This week at CES 2016, Shining 3D has introduced the EinScan-Pro, which goes two steps further with four scanning modes.
The newest version still features the automatic and free scan modes that made the EinScan-S so popular. In automatic mode, a small object is placed on the scanner’s turntable, which fully scans the object within a minute and a half. Free scan mode utilizes a tripod to capture larger objects. Newly added are the handheld rapid scan and the handheld HD scan. Rapid scan operates at a speed of 10 frames per second, ideal for scanning people or statues. Handheld HD scan is more detail-oriented, optimized for scanning intricate designs and carvings. That’s the basic package, but customers can also opt for the color package, which includes a color camera to create full color, ready-to-print 3D models, or the industrial package, which is equipped with a higher-accuracy function.
With a weight of only 0.8 kg, the EinScan-Pro is highly portable, which is a major plus for scanners, which have only recently begun to lose their bulk and weight. It’s now available for pre-order from Shining 3D’s website or one of their many resellers, starting at $3,399.
