How Much Will This Cost? df3D’s New Quote 3D App Calculates 3D Print Pricing

As 3D printing sweeps into the mainstream, knocking our socks off with one heady innovation after another, whether it’s assisting in a medical miracle like a facial transplant or allowing aerospace companies to make new and improved components, the technology has caught the attention of the world–and we are seeing incredible strides in nearly every sector.

No matter a person’s age, occupation, or specific interests, most likely by now they’ve heard of 3D printing. If they have not purchased a printer or had a 3D print made, most likely at some point they have wondered if the technology is something they could use for their own creative or utilitarian functions. The first question that generally comes to mind, however, is universal: how much is this going to cost? That’s been a complicated answer so far, especially in larger business applications, but df3d of India is now helping to take the guesswork out of your calculations altogether, specifically for 3D printing service providers who are in the hot seat to give on-the-money quotes.

We’ve been following df3d, founded by Deepak Raj, for quite some time now, and whether they’re offering incredible 3D printed innovations and 3D printing tools to the world or making valuable applications and forums, we’re no longer surprised at the dynamic ideas this 3D printing and design platform comes up with.

With Quote 3D, they are just one more application further into their mission to completely meet the needs of the 3D printing world, full of a wide range of users who demand versatility. With this app, df3d offers a way to figure out pricing for 3D printing files using various 3D printing technologies.

It’s important to note that currently this app only works with devices having an ‘arm’ based processor, as specific ‘x86’ support is not available at this moment. df3d also launched an innovative order print plugin which can be embedded on any website, catering specifically to materials and color options, and pricing. We have received word, however, that while the app has been launched, the .stl file may “not be residing on the device.” df3d does advise connecting directly to Dropbox or Google Drive, as that solves the problem expediently.

Allowing services providers to take immediate guesswork out of pricing for 3D prints, the Quote 3D app is extremely user friendly and can be download from the Google Play store. While many users are moving toward purchasing their own 3D printers, still many find it’s easier to download files or create them and then send them to a third party for printing, often also taking the stress off of novices who are looking for predictability and reliability in quality for certain projects.
