MyMiniFactory Brings on New Board Member & Non-Executive Director, Olivier Chatin

mm4Launched in 2013, MyMiniFactory is quite simply just a place of 3D goodness. With an expansive international community of users, they offer the world’s largest curated 3D object download platform, and give makers a spectacular venue for free downloading and 3D printing.

We’ve followed MyMiniFactory through fun and unique competitions, their launch of an innovative testing platform, and most recently also noted their highly successful massive crowdfunding campaign, still ongoing, although they have indeed already met their initial goal to raise £500,000 (approximately $767,500) via Seedrs.

While there’s a lot of excitement, enthusiasm and fun to be had regarding much of MyMiniFactory’s offerings, this is still a business; not only that, it’s big business. As the crowdfunding program kicked off, figures regarding the company’s pre-money valuation came in at £9,439,890 (approximately $14,491,000). Along with good business practices comes the proper maintenance of a board. And in line with that, the MyMiniFactory Board of Directors has welcomed Olivier Chatin as a new Non-Executive Director. Brought on board due to his “corporate governance and strategic structuration,” the hope is that he will help MyMiniFactory grow further.

He also joins new additions Nicholas Franchet, head of retail and e-commerce for Facebook, along with Colin Nunn, who has a long history of expertise in both finance and investing.

”I see the MyMiniFactory platform as defining the future of manufacturing: decentralized, designer lead and people curated. I’m excited to be part of this adventure at its infancy by joining My Mini Factory’s board of directors,” said Olivier Chatin.

As a Managing Director and Partner at Alvarez and Marsal, Chatin leads major projects in restructuring, profit improvement, and transformation. Previous to that position, Chatin was COO for BearingPoint–and previous to that, CEO of the French/Benelux region of BearingPoint.

“I’m proud to welcome Olivier to our board as he has such a broad yet in depth knowledge of industries all over Europe, in so many different sectors. We will no doubt benefit from Olivier’s 30+ years of strategic thinking, best practices and exceeding expectations,” said Sylvain Preumont, Founder and Executive chairman of MyMiniFactory.

After the crowdfunding campaign reaches its closing point, the board plans to continue with their plans to use the funds strategically by bringing in the best designers, thus offering exciting and high quality 3D designs to an already very faithful following. All of this looks to be coming together nicely for the self-professed “YouTube of 3D printing.”
