InterLatin and Colibrí Introducing the Next Generation to 3D Printing

IMG-20150807-WA0011Colibrí 3D develops 3D design capabilities for a new generation. Based in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, Colibrí says their goal is to bring new generations of designers and technicians into the fascinating 3D printing universe.

Driven by the Mexican technology company InterLatin, the system is an ambitious training program specially designed for children and teenagers.

InterLatin, a Mexican company which boasts more than 15 years in the electronic manufacturing industry, says they stand by their customers throughout the manufacturing process by offering products, support, engineering services, training and consulting. The company is also a sales partner with the main brands in the industry, and they say they’re committed to innovation.

Using expertise gained over the course of the last 15 years and a dedicated, internal R&D department and design house, InterLatin recently launched the Colibrí 3D Home and COLIBRI 3D PRO printers.

During the first phase of the program, some 40 participants ages 8 to 15 had the chance to learn – in a practical way – the basic tools to design their favorite toys and bring them to life through InterLatin’s Colibrí 3D printer.

Under the guidance of a team of experts, the students used unique software developed by a company named Constructor Blocks, and with it they created dolls, planes and cars which they took home with them at the end of the session.

The process was designed specifically for beginners, and Constructor’s Blocks software allows any person without previous experience or knowledge to create their own 3D objects in a matter of minutes. They do this by arranging a set of pre-designed cubes.

InterLatin says the children’s training program is a key element in a strategy to bring 3D printing capabilities to the consumer market. The company believes an average family should be capable of creating everyday objects using this technology for everything from school projects to mobile phone covers, jewelry and hand tools.

As part of the initiative, InterLatin recently launched its Colibrí 3D Home printer. The printer was spefically designed for the personal market, while the Colibrí 3D PRO model is ideal for professionals in architecture, industrial engineering and electronics.
