3DKitBash’s Boneheads Series 2 3D Printable Skulls Now Available

Just in time for Halloween, the Second Series of 3DKitbash.com’s wildly successful line of 3D printable Bonehead skulls is finally here. Last year the 3D printable toy company had a huge Kickstarter success on their hands when their first Boneheads line of 3D printable skull replicas soared past its funding goal. The 3D models were designed to print at home on a standard desktop 3D printer quickly, with no supports, and included a pinning system that would hold the parts firmly together without requiring any glue. The first line was so successful that 3DKitbash decided to design an entirely new line of skulls, this time with all of the skulls having articulated jaws, and bring the new series back to Kickstarter.

Boneheads Series 2 easily doubled its original funding goal and brought with it some great stretch goals, including a Unicorn Skull, three charm-sized skulls and a killer Killer Whale Skull. Once the Kickstarter campaign closed back in May the 3DKitbash team got right to work finishing off the new line of 3D skull models. According to Bonehead mastermind Quincy Robinson, the second set is quite the “toothy beast” with 20 new models and 669 teeth and tusks individually sculpted and designed for the new series. Among the “toothiest” skulls from the Second Series are the Dragon and its 48 teeth, the T-Rex with his 56 teeth and the Crocodile with all of his 61 chompers.

Just as with the First Series, the Second Series skulls were split into three sets, the first being a remix of some of the fan favorite skulls from the First Series with added articulated jaws and some new and improved surface texturing. The second set is a collection of new, not previously released skulls that have been authentically modelled. And the third set is a series of fantasy skulls inspired by mythological creatures, cybernetic organisms and even a couple of movie monsters. As with Boneheads Series One, all of the skulls will print support-free on a standard FDM 3D printer.

“We’re really excited to have had the chance to redesign some of the skulls from the original BONEHEADS Series, like the Deer, Owl, and Cat. For this series, we also sculpted cool new authentic skulls, including a Kodiak Bear, Lion, and Velociraptor. We probably had the most fun coming up with the fantasy-inspired skulls. The Creature and Gankra the Kaiju are a couple of my favorites, but I’ve really been geeking out over the Fairy Skull,” said Robinson.

The remainder of the redesigned set of skulls in the first set will include a Bull Skull, an awesome Dragon Skull and a Tyrannosaurus Rex Skull. The second set will also include a very alien looking Humpback Whale Skull, a Horse Skull and the tooth-filled Crocodile Skull. The third set, of fantasy-inspired skulls, will also come with a Cyborg Dog Skull, his master’s Cyborg Human Skull and a creepy little Goblin Skull. As with Series One the skulls will fit on a 3D printable display mount that you can download from 3DKitbash for free, so you can cover your walls with creepy animal bones.

To celebrate the release of Boneheads Series Two, 3DKitbash is having a “Boneheads Halloween Prop” challenge on Facebook. Fans and makers are encouraged to create the creepiest Boneheads halloween prop that their twisted minds can cook up and post pictures, videos or GIFs of them directly to the 3DKitbash Facebook page no later than October 19, 2015.

Here are the rules for the “BONEHEADS Halloween Prop” Facebook Challenge:
