ExOne Opening New Service Center in Sweden for 3D Printing R&D, Collaboration with Swerea

We’ve reported on ExOne and their global presence countless times, as well as their ventures into new 3D printing materials and innovative new industrial processes. And while we weren’t glad to share reports of rather dismal earnings, again for this quarter (with ExOne not alone), it’s certainly easy to see that nothing is holding up the German company from dominating as a force in 3D printing.

Famous for 3D printing in materials such as sand, metal, and glass–and often on an enormous scale–ExOne is also famous for expanding their global presence on every level, from opening a vast new headquarters in Augsberg, Germany last year to taking on numerous new certifications in other facilities, and expanding sales and 3D printing solutions in other countries. Their latest venture lands them in Sweden with plans for a new production service center.

Located in the southern city of Jönköping, the new facility will be the site of a collaboration with the Swedish Research Institute for Industrial Renewal and Sustainable Growth (Swerea).

Swerea specializes in discovering new solutions for:

With 3D printing as the central focus, both ExOne and Swerea will be able to put an intense emphasis on R&D as they look into new processes and technology. Investigating casting simulation, production, as well as environmental and energy issues, the two companies will be searching for applications that benefit ExOne customers, specializing in a multitude of industries, with project requirements that usually mean 3D printing on the large scale without forfeiting quality.
