Prototypster’s service, as an end production platform, is offering the API to aid partners in using the simplicity in installation and usage of their functionality, and they add that “it is well-documented and created according to the modern principles of design flexibility.”
Functions included in the API Prototypster will make it possible for users to load, test, and price 3D models before ordering them for printing through a developer’s website.
To cite an example, Prototypster says a recent integration on GlobalGallery.ru lets users of that site choose a variety of options and create 3D printed models. Although the new service is currently in beta test mode, feedback from users has made note of the convenience it provides.
In the GlobalGallery.ru implementation of the API, a user loads a 3D model to a project gallery then selects a material, model size, and delivery method. Once those choices are made and an order is completed, payment is taken and Prototypster takes over the 3D printing before the finished product is shipped directly to the customer.
Online apps for 3D modeling can easily add the option to include 3D printing as an option to their customers, and the API Prototypster opens a wide range of opportunities for producing and selling real products from custom-made jewelry to souvenirs to smartphone cases and game characters.
“This is a great step in the development of our company as well as the whole 3D printing market in Russia,” says Irina Desyatykh, project manager at Prototypster.ru. “We believe that this new tool will inspire developers and our users to create services and applications which will expand the boundaries of the use of 3D printing.”
Desyatykh adds that Prototypster is currently negotiating with “the world’s most popular 3D modeling websites” to implement their software solution on those platforms.

Prototypster.ru was founded by Igor Krasovsky, the CEO of the company. The’s story began with their interaction with LOGEEKs, a specialist firm in industrial design and manufacturing of new-to-market products. They say the fact that LOGEEKs was heavily involved in using additive manufacturing in their daily work played the essential role in the startup of Prototypster. As LOGEEKs’ customers began placing private orders for 3D printing, the team decided to bring 3D printing technology to a new level, and thus Prototypster was launched.
