Welcome to a place called Blokko, where stories, art, and toys are merged together in one magical place for you to peruse.

It’s probably safe to say that Blokko is one of our favorites. They have such a unique and authentic platform based on storytelling and toymaking, encouraging and inspiring everyone, whether they just love hearing and seeing an illustrated story or happen to be fellow authors, artists, and designers as well.

We’ve followed Blokko practically since their inception, and their soft launch, as they began weaving their multi-layered concept into one comprehensive artistic platform that often allows for 3D printed toys to illustrate stories, integrating the two dimensions with figurines that offer a tangible memento.

That’s the case with two figurines that have been highlights during the formal launch of Blokko, as the site has been unveiled for all, offering all who are fans of reading and of illustration in 2D and 3D a truly magical escape–as well as continuing in their mission to democratize toymaking.

The Victuals 3D printed figurine is now found at Blokko, serving as inspiration and also as illustration of a mixture of comics and fairytales found in the enchanting and inviting story–bearing the same name–by Jason Brubaker. Victuals is based on the graphic novel reMIND.

Authors such as Brubaker featured on Blokko tend to be dedicated artists in their fields–and in Brubaker’s case, he recently quit his job at Dreamworks Animation to fulfill his dream in pursuing a career self-publishing in comics. The figurine, created by talented 3D modeler Diego Gonzalez of Hong Kong, is available at Blokko in a full-color sandstone 3D print.

Also now available on Blokko is a new 3D printed figurine featuring Bigfoot, as an accompaniment to The Untold Tales of Bigfoot, by Vince Dorse, a story regarding a camping trip that’s well, campy. And let’s face it, who can resist a story about the elusive Sasquatch? The Bigfoot figurine, still being refined, was created by Blokko’s CTO and co-founder, Prad Lal. It will also be available in full-color sandstone.

“There are a lot of great storytellers like Jason and Vince,” Blokko’s Rahul Thayyalamkandy told 3DPB.com. “Our focus is to bring their stories to life in the form of merchandise by collaborating with talented 3D designers. 3D printing technology (on demand) makes all this happen.”

“Blokko is the place to publish and discover great stories–you know, the ones that pull us into a world of imagination and wonder.”

Whether you are into art, stories, or gaming, or you just like surfing the net, Blokko is a great stopping point for taking a break from the reality of your day. The 3D printed models and figurines are created by makers from around the world. You can download and 3D print the files for the figures and characters yourself, or Blokko can make and ship them for you.

Discuss your thoughts on the latest and greatest from Blokko, as they continue to evolve as a platform for storytelling, design, and 3D printed figurines and toys in the Blokko forum thread over at 3DPB.com.
