The first commercially available chocolate 3D printer has already been on the market for several years, as Choc Edge‘s Choc Creator 3D printer came on the scene in 2012. Last year, we saw the unveiling of the Choc Creator 2.0, which improved upon the first model. As the company finds its stride, we’re happy to see that their latest version has now been teased, already preparing for its debut. Purported to become available at the end of September, the new Choc Creator 2.0 Plus looks to enhance the chocolate printing experience.
“The Choc Creator 2.0 Plus is coming – More fun, reliable and affordable than ever before,” the company states on their Facebook page.
While the pricing is a big draw, it certainly isn’t the only improvement the 2.0 Plus has to offer.
“Working with scientists in the food innovation field field along with 3D printing and industrial design talents, we have created the next generation of our chocolate printer,” notes the Choc Edge team. “The Choc Creator 2.0 Plus combines optimal performance, light-weight yet robust build, greater ease of use and a more affordable price. These features make it more accessible to chocolatiers, retailers, bakers and chefs, event organisers, food innovators and designers who are ready to bring their unlimited imagination to life!”
The lightweight build that is showcased in that the 2.0 Plus will offer a larger printing envelope–but a smaller overall machine size. By changing this ratio up, the Choc Edge team is really giving the people what they want: more chocolate, smaller footprint. (Okay, what the people really want might be more chocolate, smaller waistline, but they’re working in tech, not magic!)
With a maximum creation size of 185 x 185 x 50 mm, the machine is an update from the previous 175 x 175 x 65 mm envelope. It will weigh in at about 19kg.
Another new offering, a 5″ LCD touch screen interface, means you’ll be able to connect via WiFi to your computer, rather than staying plugged in. I’m sure no one would take advantage to hide their late-night chocolate-making habits, but maybe it’s good to know that’s an option now!
The UK-based company ships around the world, assembling and testing each 3D printer before sending them out.
While the Choc Creator 2.0 Plus isn’t available quite yet, keep an eye on Choc Edge’s online shop–or email the company for more immediate responses for your chocolate cravings.
