Werking Unveils New 3D Printed Universal, Custom Bicycle Mounts for Cycling Computers

3D-Mount-3d-printed-werking-5Cyclist swear by their gear. There are those cyclists who wear only certain brands of clothing, ride only bikes made by specific manufacturers and use cycling computers of only a certain type. Other cyclists like changing it up, trying and experimenting with several different brands, models and computer systems, hoping to come up with what works best for them.

3D printing has gradually become the goto means of manufacturing for companies and individuals who are looking to create completely custom, one-off products that are tailored to individual needs. This is the case with a new Italian startup called Werking, and their latest product, the 3D Mount.

“Werking today presents its new product that has been developed since last fall,” Andrea Sega of Werking tells 3DPrint.com. “Werking is pleased to announce a new bicycle mount, whose name is 3D Mount. The new bicycle mount is universal. In fact, you can use 3D mount with many devices currently on the market, such as Garmin, Bryton or Polar thanks to the removable plastic inserts.”

There are literally dozens of different cycling computers to choose from, yet each manufacturer has their own unique mounts for these devices. They are far from being custom, and leave a lot to be desired. With the 3D Mount, however, everything from the color, to the device it holds, and the wording on its face can be custom made. Currently it is compatible with all Garmin and Bryton devices as well as the Polar V650 and V450 models.

The 3D Mount is printed out of plastic, allowing it to be extremely lightweight, yet also very durable and strong. In fact, it weights just 20 grams, including the screws used to hold it onto the bike frame.

“3D Mount is customizable, if you are part of a team or just want to customize it with your name, Werking will be able to offer all this,” Sega tells 3DPrint.com

Currently the 3D Mount is available in three colors: black, fluorescent yellow and white, but we are told that additional colors will be added in the near future. The price for the mount with a single insert is 32 Euros (approximately $35.70), and if you wish to add custom text to the face of the mount, the price will increase to 42 Euros ($46.85). The product officially launches later this month, but if you register on the Werking website prior to the launch, you will receive a coupon code for a 15% discount.

As you can see in the photos provided, this is a really unique looking product, one made possible thanks to the use of 3D printing technology. The inserts for various devices are interchangeable, meaning that you can use a single 3D Mount for holding multiple devices.

What do you think about these clever cycling mounts? Would you pay $35 to own one? Discuss in the Werking 3D Mount forum thread on 3DPB.com.
