Orrù’s latest creation is a guitar that has been inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, in particular his Godfish and Necronomicon characters.
“I’ve decided to create this second guitar to carry on my collection and studies about 3D printing instruments,” Orrù tells 3DPrint.com. “I also wanted to test a new model with a better electronic on it, mounting Seymour Duncan humbuckers this time instead of cheap Wilkinson. I started the project using as a base mesh from my old guitar, the HR Giger model.”
Using ZBrush, he personalized the guitar to the max, which included the customization of the overall shape of the instrument itself. He tried his best to emulate scorpion pincers for the bottom part of the guitar, as you can see in the photos, and he sculpted other figures which were also inspired by the Lovecraft Godfish story and the Necronomicon art cover.
“I’ve always liked bone structures and designs, so I added a lion skull inspired from an album cover of a drone rock band called ‘Earth’,” Orrù tells us. “The remaining creature on the top right corner of the guitar body is another personal concept that I did couple of months ago for my second module at the University in Computer Animation. It consist[s of] a lion anatomy with an alien design for the face and a dragon tail.”
Obviously the guitar features several parts which were not 3D printed. These include the pickups, the neck, the bridge, a set of strings, volume and tone pots, volume and tone knobs, and the neck plate.
In the end, the guitar came out sounding tremendous for Orrù, and he has made all of the files available to download from MyMiniFactory. What do you think about this incredible design?
