Kwambio hasn’t skipped a beat, or a step, and their track record is growing quickly as they continue to gain momentum, as well as a new opportunity in joining up with startup incubator Techstars Boston Accelerator Program. With this membership, they have raised $650,000 in angel funding from both Techstars and other sources. Kwambio will be one of twelve startups attending the Techstars summer session, with the company providing the obvious seed money, mentorship, as well as extensive networking opportunities.
“The companies in the class span across diverse spaces, including travel, mobile, edtech, enterprise software, SaaS, retail, 3-D printing, and food distribution tech,” states the Techstars team on their blog. “They are all trying to solve big problems, but many of them are also joining our program with substantial existing momentum.”
“We believe that the Techstars accelerator program will take Kwambio to the next level,” said Dmitriy Krivoshey, Kwambio’s co-founder and CTO.
As we’ve reported previously, many eyes in the 3D printing world will be upon them as their 3D printing platform becomes available internationally allowing for users to order quality 3D prints with customization options–and protecting designers at the same time. Products are verified and readied for both customization and printing and then streamed rather than downloaded, adding to the attractiveness of their venue. By the time the platform is released to the public, they will be able to look forward to customizing and streaming their choices of 1,000 products.
The company was founded in Ukraine, and the CEO of Kwambio, Vlad Usov, reports that while they are heavily targeting both the European and US markets and also have headquarters in New York, they will also be building a specific presence in Boston. This certainly isn’t a surprise after their funding and joining with Techstars Boston, for which they moved their Ukraine office and core team to the area for the session.
Their focus with both software and hardware will be reinforced later this year as they release the Unique One 3D printer which was recently on display at the New York 3D Printshow, receiving a lot of positive notice–and demand from future customers ready to put their money down on the new technology.
Boasting a 300mm per second printing speed, with a build volume of 300 x 300 x 250 mm, the Unique One is auto-calibrated and operates with smart cartridges.
“Though we are working nonstop on Kwambio software to release it by next month, we constantly improve UNIQUE One,” said Krivoshey. “After making a huge splash at the 3D Printshow in New York we received our first pre-orders.”
