Now, the largest curated 3D printing design repository will be launching a crowdfunding campaign of their own. If you own a 3D printer and frequently download various designs to print, you are more than likely familiar with a site called MyMiniFactory. Their motto is “quality over quantity”, and if you browse their designs, you will certainly agree that this is the case.
MyMiniFactory will be launching a crowdfunding campaign, but unlike those that we have seen before within the 3D printing space, they will utilize a very different and perhaps more enticing model and platform. Instead of using a reward-based platform like Kickstarter or Indiegogo, they will use Seedrs which is an equity based crowdfunding platform. Those individuals who use Seedrs to fund their favorite companies, forego the opportunity of getting a product in return for their funding, instead opting for the opportunity of actually gaining ownership in the company they fund. This means that you will be able to own a part of the MyMiniFactory business, a business that has grown incredibly fast over the past two years.
“Today I am excited to let you know that we will soon be launching an equity crowdfunding campaign in partnership with Seedrs, and through this you will be able to own your very own piece of MyMiniFactory,” MyMiniFactory Founder and Executive Chairman, Sylvain Preumont explains. “This is going to be big, and I want you to be a part of it.”
So far no further details have been announced, so it will be interesting to see just how much equity in the company they will be willing to give up, as well as what type of funding they will be looking for. The additional funding could go a long way in helping MyMiniFactory continue to grow, hire new talented designers, and ultimately expand their presence.
