Designer 3D Prints Incredible Hulkbuster Action Figure

反浩克机甲What do you get when you take a talented 3D designer, provide him with an Ultimaker 2 3D printer, and tell him to go to work? If that designer is a man named Alex Cambrain, then you are sure to get something truly incredible.

With the recent release of the ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ film earlier this month, there has been a lot of talk of superheroes as of late, more specifically ‘Iron Man’. We’ve already seen several 3D printed costumes from the film, including full body suits, prosthetic arms, and more. Alex Cambrain completely fell in love with the “Hulkbuster” suit after watching the trailer from ‘Age of Ultron’ — so much so that he just had to have a model of the suit himself. Unable to find one anywhere else, he decided to model one and 3D print it himself.

For those unaware, the Hulkbuster suit is a heavy-duty armor based exo-frame designed for maximum strength. It was specifically designed for Iron Man to battle the Incredible Hulk. It is an impressive piece of equipment. It wasn’t easy, but Cambrain set a goal for himself, which all began with designing the figurine.

“The software I used was ZBrush-4R7,” Cambrain explained to 3DPrint.com. “This version includes some features which are vitally important for Robot modeling. For example, using “ZModeler” I can stretch geometric shapes very conveniently. I spent almost one week’s spare time on modeling.”

After the enormous amount of time that Cambrain spent, it was off to 3D print his action figure. He had divided it into 12 separate pieces: The head, main body, arms, legs, feet, thighs, knees and several nails. He then used his Ultimaker 2 3D printer to print out each of these pieces on the highest resolution setting possible. The body alone took an incredible 34 hours to print, with the arms and legs taking another 7-8 hours. No Hulkbuster suit would be complete without being painted in the traditional orange, gold, and chrome colors.

The action figure, when assembled, measures 23cm high by 18cm wide. The head, knees, legs and arms are all movable, and we must say that it couldn’t have come out any better.

For those who wish to download and print this very same Hulkbuster suit themselves, Cambrain has made the files available to download for $2.00 on Shapetizer.
