Top 3D Printable 3DShare Models This Week — Fishing Lure, Alluring Skirt-Blown Figure, Darth Tweety & More

3DSha.re ends up with the most entertaining and sometime unnerving models for 3D printing, which is why each week we take a closer look at what is popular on the highly trafficked site. This week’s top models include a fishing lure, an (for some) alluring Marilyn Monroe-esque figure with iconic blowing skirt, a functional and modular bendy bag for all occasions, a funky moon lamp, and a Darth Vader-styled Tweety figure standing on a bed of skulls.

Soft Lure For Cod Fishing

Cod fishing requires soft lures, and this one is designed for just that for sea kayak fishers. The hook is held together by internal grooves attached to a central hook running down the lure’s center. An improvement upon soft silicone or jelly lures, this hook doesn’t have to be embedded in the body itself, because of how tough the 3D printing filament is. Designed by biscuitlad with a recommended printing wall thickness of .5 mm, this free-to-download lure is an upgrade to standard silicone cod fishing lures, as the hook will point up and outwards if it is squeezed. The lure will print with the lure slot partially closed.

Skirt Blow Up Anime Miniature

Designer Richard Swika never ceases to amaze in the “objectification of women’s bodies” category on 3DShare, and this week’s showing from the designer is an anime-themed knockoff of an image we never apparently tire of: the Marilyn Monroe-inspired skirt blow up trick. This figure, available for a 99 cent download, is designed like a bobble head, except that the top of her body and dress move instead of just the head. This is what makes for the skirt-blowing effect, reminding me why many of today’s girls and women wear shorts under skirts: to avoid exactly this iconic accidental moment.

BendyBag

On the more useful side of designs, I have plenty of ideas for this next 3DShare model: the modular and colorful BendyBag. We need bags as gift wrap, for toting lunches and other items, for groceries and storage…and the BendyBag system is designed for modularity for all occasions. This simple panel and pin system allows you to build small and larger bags, in a variety of colors, that will stand the test of time while looking classier than any gift wrapping job I can ever pull off. Castomized makes BendyBag available to download for 99 cents, and recommends NinjaFlex filament.

Moon Lamp

I love this lamp and want one for my bedroom, since I can’t see the moon from my bed. As a matter of fact, it’s an exceptional alternative to this week’s other model featuring a practically full moon — the skirt blow up miniature! This moon is accurate, and features a elevation map on it exterior. How luminous! For those who want to keep close contact to the natural world while we’re indoors, this lamp from designer Renato Tarabella helps cast the right mood. It can be yours for a 99 cent download.

Darth Tweety

Last week it was a Storm Trooper ring, and this week Bon Garçon brings us Darth Tweety on bed of skulls. Now this is some hilarious and chilling commentary, as Tweety stands to represent the innocence of Warner Brothers and Disney’s childhood embrace and the whimsicality of Americana’s entertainment industry. When merged with menacing Darth Vader imagery, and the killing fields mound of skulls, we get a more sinister idea of entertainment’s underbelly — including its international sweatshops using child labor. A must have — and yours for a 99 cent download!
