Today, Italy-based company Ira3D announced not only a new 3D printer, but also a laundry list of new, innovative filaments that are compatible with this printer. Ira3D, founded by Alessandro Padrin, and launched just last year, is quickly making a name for itself within the 3D printing community.
Let’s first get started with the new printer itself. The Ira3D Poetry2 is a feature-rich 3D printer available in both single and dual extrusion versions, featuring rapid print rates, and an enviable build envelope. Its full steel body ensures stability during the print process and works in unison with its Tengri System to reduce vibration. Able to support multiple forms of filament from PLA to ABS and nylon, the Poetry2 has the following general specifications:
- Build Envelope: 250 x 250 x 300 mm
- Print Resolution: 30 microns
- Print Speed: 180mm/sec
- Travel Speed: 250mm/sec
- Software: Open Ira3D
- Build Tray: Heated, easy to calibrate
The printers, which are priced at €1749 (about $1881USD) for the single extruder version and €1849 ($1990USD) for the dual extruder version, are not the only big announcements for Ira3D today. In fact, their filament announcement may be the bigger story here. In total the company has announced 9 new exotic filament types. Included are all of the following:
- H-Limofy®: Very easy to remove as a support material. Soluble and brittle.
- Gummify®: Extremely flexible and elastic. Similar to NinjaFlex in consistency.
- IRA-Wood®: Prints objects which appear to be wood.
- IRA-Copper®: Strong impact copper material.
- IRA-CarbonF®: Carbon fiber composite which is rigid, strong and versatile.
- IRA-Bronze®: Bronze composite material, which can be polished to appear like actual bronze.
- IRA-Brick®: Prints object which appear to be stone-like.
- Crystal®: Derived from PET-G, prints objects with a crystal clear transparency, combined with strength and light weight.
- ABSuper®: Anti-warping ABS.
Additionally the company has plans for a number of new filaments in the months ahead. They have provided us with a little sneak peek at what’s two come, which includes the following two filaments:
- IRA-Alum®: Aluminum composite, easy to print, light weight.
- IRA-Steel®: Produced with multi-faceted steel, leaving objects strong and resilient.
All of these filaments can be purchased at the company’s website and are available in the 1.75 and 3mm varieties. Let us know if you have purchased any of these new Ira3D filaments or used their new Poetry2 printer. Discuss in the Poetry2 forum thread on 3DPB.com.
